Blogger's Block

I have a block on the farm's website, which is intended to keep interested parties up to date with what we're up to. I'm not a bad writer (so I'm told!) and I think the blog is pretty good.
However, a couple of months ago we had a spell of bad weather which meant my solar panels couldn't keep up with my computer usage, and I got out of the habit of writing it. I've not updated it for quite some time now.
I have masses of ideas for articles, all the projects we've completed or been working on since I last wrote. I've also got quite a few photos to illustrate it.
But I am lacking the oomph and drive to get cracking on it!
Each time I sit down with the laptop I end up whiling away my precious time either on here, on Facebook or in fact anything other than the blog. There's so many ideas floating around in my head that I really don't know where to start.
I think I'm suffering from a serious case of blogger's block!
Have you got a blog? How often do you update it? Have you ever suffered from a lack of inspiration? How did you get over it? Perhaps you have some other advice for me? Failing that, perhaps you'd care to offer me a swift kick up the backside to get me going?!

Just how effective are your solar panels. I have been considering getting them for a while now. I know this is kind of off topic. I apologize.

Off topic maybe, but significant when you consider that I couldn't update the blog because the weather was bad!
My major problem is not having enough panels. I have enough for household lights and occasional mobile phone charging in winter, whilst in summer I can normally use my laptop too. However, we have very low usage compared to the average household.
Take professional advice, and go for it!

My husband used to work for Arco Solar and has made solar panel technology. He's also done his best to keep up with the newer technologies. He says the main problem with the technology is that they don't have a way to keep moisture away from the solar cells, and that they corrode as time passes and will need to be replaced sooner than one might be led to believe. That's one reason he won't get them. How long have you had yours?

Hey! No one kicks my mates without me kicking them back! Do not give yourself a hard time. Just take a break. If the weather is good, just take a walk around the farm and think of how you would describe Everything to me, a person who has Never seen your farm. Jot down your notes and write a blog.

Why don't you discuss (on your blog) the fact that bad weather slowed down your blogging because you use solar power? I haven't seen your blog, so maybe that wouldn't be appropriate, but it might get your creative juices flowing again!
I have a blog and I go through periods like that when I just don't want to update it. I can't even blame it on the weather! Sometimes I can get past it by opening up the text editor and just writing whatever comes to mind whether it's relevant or not. Eventually, I'll come up with something that I can use.
Or if you'll turn around just a little, I'll give you a swift kick to get you going.

Hey there!
happy to know that you love blogging.. well from my opinion, maybe that is why its easier to update personal blog that has a very general niche, You can always talk about what ever of your interest that u only like to write everytime you are updating your blog. Those are usually serious blogger that updates everything interesting almost everyday.
Or you can also create multiple categories in your blog i.e, under lifestyle niche u can talk about earning, live a healthy life, news or whatever that is related to lifestyle..
hope it helps! ;)

I used to have a blog, and obviously I need to write things here on Mylot too, and I write on a few other websites, so I like yourself need to think of writing ideas.
But also like yourself, I do get into slumps about writing.
What I like to do, is actually start a document, close it and come back.. I start writing whatever it is I want to write, on Word.. and type away until I get bored and then turn it off. Then I go back to it awhile later, after i've been energised doing something else, and then finish and copy and paste it.
Just splitting it in two really helps me :)

I have three blogs, one of which is for business, one for local events, and one for gardening. The only one I'm pretty good about keeping up with is the local one, because there is so much going on now to inspire me. My gardening blog is terribly neglected, since I don't do much gardening anymore. I've changed the direction to more of a nature blog.
The real stinker is the business blog. It's primarily on education, and I just have few ideas for it anymore. I'm not active as a teacher, and most of my customers probably are teachers. I don't want to get into educational issues because I'm politically on the other side of most teachers. I believe more in home schooling than public education. Sometimes I talk about books, and I'd probably be better off doing that again. Lately I've written mostly about the writing sites -- even this one, telling myself it's educational. I'd also welcome ideas. It's time for me to update again. Perhaps I'll write about educational activities for children I observed at the art festival, though most of those ideas I like to save for the paying sites, such as HubPages and Squidoo. I suppose my lack of motivation comes because I don't have hundreds of people following that blog. My local blog and art articles are now being read and promoted by the local art community, so I'm more motivated to cater to their interests, such as covering their work and the various local art events.
When you work hard at what you do, it's hard to sit down at the end of a long day when you are tired and feel passionate enough to sit and pour it out on the computer unless you really do have burning desire to write something. I usually get those burning desired when I'm too busy to write. I try to remember to at least write my idea down before I forget it so I have something to draw on when I next have time to write, but sometimes it doesn't look so exciting anymore when that time comes. I agree that sometimes the best thing to do is start writing. You don't 'have to publish it right away. You can come back and edit it later.

I would be interesting in taking a look at your gardening /nature one at some stage. Perhaps by PM if you're uncomfortable sharing publicly?
Talking about books for your business blog sounds to me like a good way to go. Books are as applicable to school educators as they are to home educators, and there are an endless quantity out there to write about. Educational activities also seems to me to be a subject with endless possibilities, but of course I don't know how suited that is to your focus.
Ours is linked to the website about the farm, so the idea is to attract suitable volunteers (and put off 'coasters'!), publicise the workshops and courses that we run and generally educate about a low impact, permaculture lifestyle. Unfortunately the last two aims mean that I am setting a high standard for myself as I feel everything should be factually correct and show us to best advantage, which has in itself become a barrier to overcome.

it happens that when there are so many ideas in our head, and we can not seem to operate from them. it happened to me many times. what i do is to rack them into related ideas. after grouping them, i set them chronologically depending on my level of interest. then i work on the top list. only when i organize them and work on certain area, then i can move past the block.
