Do not worry. Your friend would forgive you. God knows what is in your heart and even if your friend decides not to forgive you, God is still beside you no matter what happen.

I know It really feels bad when you commit something to someone and then you could not make it.You tend to feel bad when that person is really in need of your help and he/she was expecting from you. but we all have this kind of situation in life and we all are human beings so we can not be perfect always.at times we too are helpless and we have no other options left other than breaking the promise. So my friend it is absolutely fine, this kind of situation do happens in life.Just make sure that you are not hurting someone intentionally.

It's OK we all make promises but sometimes unable to completely fulfill it. But it's not purposeful and I know you didn't mean to not help your friend. It's OK try to help your friend next time.
