I am confused because I want to take some extra 3 hours special classes for Internet. Class will be free. I want to give the name workshop or seminar for this I not understand. Both meaning are same or something different. I want to explain some important points regarding net and most of the persons will be present in my class who is not know about net.

If you want to take class to others.. it means you are sharing information with him to increase his/her knowledge.. it should be called 'Webinar'.. workshop is not proper term for that.. and seminar generally comes when it comes physical conference..

They are in premise the same - but I would think a workshop is more interactive whereas a seminar is just a person standing in front of a group and lecturing. But it is still a gathering to gain and disperse information. Probably just the way it is taught is the difference.

Hi there! A workshop is an activity wherein you would be applying the learnings from a discussion in a seminar. It may be a group or an individual activity. It usually given by the facilitators of the seminar after the discussion to assess the participants on the level of their understanding on a given topic. I am currently attending a training/seminar and we do several workshops after each topic. It's an application of knowledge. I hope I answered your query.

Hi surekha! To make it simple the seminar is the lecture or discussion while the workshop is the activity after the lecture. workshop is a part of a seminar.

Hello Surekharathi, I found this page, that I think that may help you to clear all your doubts, http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/what_s_the_difference_between_a_seminar_workshop_and_conference
It is there well explained, as for my own view, I think that a workshop is where you do actual work, and learn doing things, while a seminar, syposium, etc... is where you listen to some person(s), and then debate with other atending people there.

If you attend a seminar, you are not involved in a discussion since there is nothing to be done by participants, while workshops involve participants to practice what has been presented.

As far as I know, there is not any difference between the terms workshop and seminar. I've heard things referred to in both ways and that is just something that I accept as being something that is interchangable.
Now, I would personally use the term seminar for something that is more low-key and use the term workshop for something where you are going to be gaining more knowledge and skills.

For me, workshop is the activity where in you applied what you have learned from training or seminars. Or an area complete with tools and other things needed for a work to be done or an interaction between participating groups and exchanging information about a certain topic.
While seminars are about lectures or imparting knowledge given by a facilitators.

Yes, I think now you got a better idea on seminar and workshops. Literally, workshop is more facilitated and people interact more. As an individual we can take part and in seminars there may be moderators or speakers to talk about and the assembled people's role mainly conclude to be listeners or participators.
There are workshops for cinema, drama and other progrmas. Here we will take part in acting, discussions, suggestion and many more. But in seminars, there may be learned-ed people to talk about and we will get a better understanding and learning on the topic.
Hope you are clear on this and if you got an extra class on internet means you will get hand on experience, lectures and question-answer sessions on the same.
Hope you will enjoy it.

HI sis!
So you are going to conduct a class about internet?? If you are just giving a talk without any demonstration of techniques by you or need the participant to do some practical then you are conducting a seminar. Usually a seminar involved a large number of participants but yo don't have to mind about it.

Hello friend, a workshop is when the participants are asked to partake in some activities in order to enhance their skills. Mostly it is physical work. While in seminar, the participants are mostly seated listening to the speaker. Although participants of the seminar may do some work, it is just minimal as compare to workshop activities.

We had workshops and seminars in our degree, and I will tell you about the difference for us. In a seminar, we were usually given a question to think about in groups, and then at the end of the session we would have to give feedback to the rest of the big group in the form of a small presentation. In workshops, we were usually given something more practical to do, for example a worksheet to complete or an experiment. I think that was the main difference in my degree, although of course yours might be a little bit different to that.
