hi mylotters,
I am observing these,MARK BEST RESPONSE,REPORT POSITIVE, REPORT NEGATIVE AND REPORT ABUSE ( words/rating/grading) or whatever we call them,in mylot, from the day i joined here. But i didnt understand the purpose of these, do we get any extra points if we mark the comment as best/positive or loose points if we give negative/report abuse..
please clear my doubt.
thank you

No you don't lose points we don't have a point system on here. But it can make your ranking on that discussion go up or down. It doesn't mean you'll make more money or anything. It just shows what people feel about that discussions or what you thought about that person response. But do not report any one unless it's clearly that they are abusing meaning saying mean things about you or other members. All of which you can certainly reread in the guidelines to make everything clear.

The function and use of the Rating system is described here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx and you will also find it useful to read this page: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx
Rating someone's discussion, response or comment affects their earnings, not your own, though abuse of the system will be detected and will affect your own rating negatively.
There is no advantage, financial or otherwise, in marking a response "Best Response". It is merely a way of acknowledging and thanking someone for a good response.
You should use the Report button to (1) notify Admin if you believe that something is against the rules or inappropriate and (2) to ask for any post of your own to be deleted (if, for example, you made a duplicate post by mistake).

Well, dear friend, to be honest I only know that we can assign the "best response", if we want to do, to comment that the more we liked it. This however is something I never do, not to do wrong to other users who might have answered them correctly too.
I do not know exactly how it functions, the "report abuse" button, I can assume that this must be questioned only if the message (be it a discussion or comment), can lead to offensive words or in some way go against the rules of Mylot.
Other precisely I do not know what to tell you.

I think these are your tools to deal with others the way you feel, best response is your acknowledgement to the one who gave you the best answer on your discussion, negative or positive is like your 'like or dislike' but beware this may boomerang if used not properly. Report abuse is for your keeping an eye on some thing against the rule. This is members who have to support admin in keeping things moving smoothly. Every rating is directly connected to member's earning so rate them carefully, thanks.

Although I´m not sure if and how rating works, the rules and guidelines of the site probably will have an explanation. Everyone here has their own reason for raitng or not rating. I´myself, am not much of a rater, except when I feel that the answer is very good (even if I don´t agree) or is rude (there I put a minus. I only report people who promote sites not being newbies. To newbies I explain it´s against the rules, old members should know better.

Simply said, it would affect your reputation - the number inside your star. The more you get (+), the number will increase, hence it will improve your earning as well.
The (-) have the similar concept.
By using that feature, it wouldn't affect your own earning, but it will affect another people's earning. I am not really sure about it, but that must be it..
