I haven't been on mylot I think in over a year mainly because I started to work last year. I went from receptionist to now hotel manager/sales and catering manager. I really enjoy my job and if someone would have told me I'd be doing sales plus be a manager I wouldn't have believed it! I think the biggest challenge has been trying to balance everything out with work and family. From being a full time mom it's been a struggle. These last few months I have met so many interesting people. I've helped organize weddings, quinceaneras, campaign fundraisers, met important people in the community, etc. My kids have gotten to enjoy part of what my job consists of because it's running a hotel in our city. The owners have been good enough to put me on salary so I pretty much can go in and put my time in knowing that I have my kids that sometimes might need me during the day. The bad part is that I am always on call if something goes wrong with an event. I also don't know when a sales call might drop in to the hotel so my hours vary. I was thinking this morning that these last few months I have been to more events than I have ever been in my whole lifetime. It's kind of exciting but still demanding. Do you love what you do?

Wow!! That really sounds like an interesting job. My brother is a chef and early in his career he also had a similar experience with events. From serving and meeting Indian sports teams to meeting Hollywood and Bollywood movie stars, it was really a lot of enjoyment for him in that sense.
As far as I am concerned, I am in a slightly more boring job in software. But I am in the healthcare industry and it gives me great joy to be in the cutting edge of medical advancements and write software to help doctors and hospitals solve the problems of tomorrow.
Cheers!

I think your job is interesting. You wouldn't believe how everyones job interests me. I organize meetings all the times for different companies so I always ask about what their meetings are about or why. Now to me computer technology is interesting because no matter in whatever business you are in everyone needs computers. They need them to run to the best of their ability. Slow computers bring a business down. Having the best software for your business helps out in getting things done. Believe me your job is not boring, it's challenging and rewarding. We depend on you to get our job done.

Thanks for making me feel good about my job. But seriously speaking, I do like my job pretty much. Of course, my dream job is still to be a teacher. Unfortunately, teaching jobs in India do not really pay. So that will need to wait till I retire :)
Cheers!

To be honest, at first I didn't like what I do until that time when I've seen how actually blessed I am to have this day job and still enjoy. The only thing I disliked back then was of course the compensation. I kind of felt that we were under-compensated with the job we have and we didn't have that much benefits as employees. But as years passed, things changed and even after the recession which in some way had affected our company, we still came out strong and now our company has started its expansion. It has its perks and although there may be times when I would have to work overtime for 6 days straight, it turns out to be rewarding in the end. Sometimes, it's not about settling for what you have but more of appreciating what you have and making it the opportunity of a lifetime. I'm happy with my day job and have been with the company for four and a half years now.

Don't mind them. Just do what you enjoy doing and as long as you're not hurting anyone at anytime, and you are so determined to get to your dreams, then so be it. What's important is how you spend your time and in any way, it is your own time and no one should care on how you spend your time dreaming or something. It's hard to be a newbie in any place or group, but that's normal. Soon, you will get to know each other and soon, they won't be mean to you in any way when they see how much you work hard and how nice you really are as a person.

Sometimes I get frustrated with the employees I oversee and the owners. I am the "new" person to the crew. Most employees have been there a long time so it's hard. Sometimes they know more than me but it seems they like to see me trip over my own feet rather than help me. When I hear people talk about not having work I snap back into reality to thank God for a job.

I must say, "Wow", for sure ! I mean you have been doing so many tasks being a mother, that is really a great job. It is surely difficult for a person to carry out so many things. In fact, sometimes even doing a single task becomes difficult for a person. When it is about me, I do the things which I find interesting. And then eventually I start loving my work. A person can only achieve or do something truly when he/she finds something that matches his interest and loves it. Until and unless, a person doesn't show dedication to his/her work, he/she will obviously get tired and frustrated doing it. So, I believe that a person should opt for something that actually appeals him the most. And something which he/she is sure to love! :)

I've supervised lots of sales people
and it really takes a special person to be in sales
it sounds like you're a special person!
not only am I in sales
but I also teach, design and sell crafts
I even have my own web site where I give free how-to's
I love both jobs!
yes,it is very exciting
yes,I also have lots of stories and met so many different people
God bless you

I just love to talk to people. I used to be so shy in high school that it's impossible to shut me up now. I ask questions that most people wouldn't. The other day someone from the room called down for help with something and I was just so comfortable with them that my staff laughed. They said "boy I don't know how you just feel comfortable in helping somoeone out, as if you actually knew them...personally". Sometimes the owners tell me that business is business but talking to my clients helps me build that relationship for referrals. I have several clients from the city that come by to talk to me sometimes. They give me insight as to what is happening in the city or other hotels in the area. They tell me the hotel has had it's parking lot full every Saturday so I must be doing something right. I just thank God that I have had the business coming in, not me seeking business. It's all God.

Work is part of life. Especially working in a preferred field of work, of course, adds to our morale. I really like and enjoy what I do.
