Last week, my bf invited me to go with his family on their trip to Bohol for the death anniversary of his grandfather. I would love to go too but unfortunately, my parents were very hesitant and not open-minded enough to allow me to go on a long trip with my bf's family. :-/ I was really upset and got this feeling of envy towards my bf every time he texted me that he had so much fun in the zipline ride and in their visit to Bohol's tourist destinations. Wish i was there! [*sigh]
They went home 2 days ago and he keeps on texting me that he bought something for me. I ignored it coz i thought its just some Bohol delicacies. Until last night, I received my pasalubong and it was just a white shirt. But when i read the imprinted text on it, it states: "SOMEONE WHO LOVES ME WENT TO BOHOL AND GOT ME THIS SHIRT". Ayieeee, I'm inlove! I'm inlove! I'm inlove! The shirt is P-R-I-C-E-L-E-S-S!!!

Hello yzakia! How old are you, oh your profile says you're 24 and your parents didn't approve of letting you go with your bf's family? that's too sad! I have the same situation as you. I can't have out of towns with friends way back those years like you. That makes me find it hard to ask for them permission everytime my friends go out of town. Well, if there are instances i get to join, I was kidnapped by my friends and we go swimming. though it was late from work, they snatched my bag and never let me go home til the jeepney service arrived. I can't do anything to get home, but then it was a night of fun I had that time.
Sometimes we have to do things on our own to get to places we want to go. But of course, we don't want our parents to be mad at us. There's always next time and your time to go out of town with your bf will come. Just now is not the time for that.
I know parents wants their daughters out of trouble. They always wants our safety.
When you become parent you'll know that one.
The message you had in your shirt is really priceless! You're too crazy for that huh? Yeah, that was sweet of him to do. Just that, hope those message came from his heart.?

Hello there Annavi! Good morning. Just woke up and u make my morning great, knowing that I'm not the only in this world who have a strict and conservative parents. :-) Yeah, I'm 24 and already a professional but still they don't give me my freedom. Maybe i can have it when i get married. That's what my sister did! She's really desperate to have her freedom.
How 'bout you? Do you have your freedom now to hangout with friends and travel without your parents?
I really believe my bf mean every imprinted words on that shirt. She wouldn't bought it if he don't coz he's so 'kuriput'. ahaha He's really sweet and I really love him. :-)

Yeah, most of the time parents are really strict. That all they are saying was right and you have to obey all those rules ccuase the fact that you are their child and you are still iving with them, makes the point! That's what most people want! the Freedom! which is not easy to aim at times specially when we are being held by our parents.
That's why some people specially women think that marriage can be a way to be apart from their parents. Some just wanted to be pregnant just to be free and live separately from their parents. It's true that parents sometimes may think we are still their babies and they have to protect us but then they also have to realize we have to be free and do what we want.
It's good that your bf really meant those words... even though he's too kuripot! hahah best wishes to both of you! :)

I am not surprised that even at 24 your parents are still strict. Been there, done that! 
And I know exactly how you feel. Some of my friends also have experienced the same. In fact, I have a friend who is about 10 years my senior and I remember having to go to their house to ask her parents to allow her to join us in one of those birthday parties that we attended some years back. I think that there are parents who are that strict to their children. But, I believe that if you talk to them about how you feel about the situation, they would understand you. It's worth a try don't you think?
You would have loved Bohol if you were allowed by your folks to join the trip. Bohol is definitely one of the best places in the Philippines. I have been to Bohol quite a few times already.
Don't miss out on other opportunities just because your parents are strict. Try to explain to them that you are already of age and that you are wise enough not to commit something that you would regret later. I hope though that your parents have enough trust in you.

I already talk to them about the issue but we end up fighting. Wish i could let them read all the comments in this discussion. But i don't have the guts and I'm tired of arguing with them. what i'll gonna do for now is to lie whenever i want to go to places.. It wont hurt them if they won't know. yzakia, That's one of the disadvantage of Family ties, the parents tend to forget that their child is grows and when that person has a career already then he or she should be able to have the fun that the person deserves. 
this is unthinkable really, you should have went with him since you two weren't going into a MOTEL or anything, dang! it's a family affair and it's like you two are gonna do something naughty when they're around. but it's nice that you're boyfriend gave you a tshirt like, very considerate of time.
