This can better help us understand the local culture and something that we should pay attention when traveling, isn't it? I think google map can be great before we go,but a guidebook when we get there is really necessary.Just share your thoughts, have a nice day.

I own many travel guide books of places I have already been to like Colombia for example and of places I wish to go to in the future like the Philippines. If I book a trip I always purchase a travel guide book. These days I can put as many books as I like on my e book reader. I did that for my last trip which was to Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. I like to see the accommodation listings and the local journey details. I find out about the culture by reading and know more about it during my stay in the destinations.

I think that it is avery wise choice to buy a guidebook when traveling somewqhere you have never been before. You can get a lot of good insight to the place you are traveling to. It isnt just a book that says you are a tourist. When I travel, guidebooks are a must for me. I like to keep on top of the culture I am entering.

I like to have a look through a guide book before I leave for the place in question, as this means that I am able to do a lot of planning for the trip and also means that I know what I'm going to be doing when I get there. I like to talk to the locals about good things that they would do as well, as they can often give a much better insight than a guide book would ever be able to, as obviously they know a lot about the area. Travelling is very exciting, and the more information you're able to get before you go, the better!

I always buy a guidebook before I visit another country. We can find a lot of information online, but I still like to buy a guidebook about my destination. I am an independent traveller and the practical information in the guidebooks is very useful for me when I plan my trip. When I travel in a foreign country where I don't know much about the public transportation it is nice to get information about bus and train connections and the prices. The maps in the guidebooks are also useful because they give me an impression of the city and the location of the sights. They can't replace a real map, because there usually aren't enough details, but the maps give me an overview of the place. I don't use the hotel reviews or restaurant reviews in the guidebooks. I find my hotels online and I find restaurants when I arrive.

Yep,though we can get everything from the internet,a book could always tell us very detailed info and therefore,no need to waste of time then.I will use no matter which way to make my trip perfect and as your last saying,i indeed totally agree. Thanks,my friend Porcospino.

Yes, I buy guidebook to help me as I travel in a certain place. If the guidebook is not available, I just browse the net and familiarize the map and the landmarks. Guidebooks plays a big role for us who love to travel.

Will search online and buy a guidebook and make down my own guidebook before travel.
I still using old style mobile phone. I still use paper map instead of good map when travel.
I also enjoy looking around and ask instead of just search online.
To learn more about the culture, better to talk with local.
If still googling when travelling, I can do it at home, why go there?!

a guidebook can be very helpful but it has to be up to date otherwise it can be complenty worthless!
