Meaning of Vanilla Twilight

There are people and a dog staring at a sunset. They are looking at a swirling cloud formation. It is right after a snowfall so instead of an orange looking sunset the sunset is more cream colored hence, vanilla colored twilight. The song is about someone missing someone. I guess the drenched part is just the color of the sunset all around him making him feel better that she may be thinking of him too. All the people kind of reminded me of Magnolia when I first saw this video on you tube. Where everyone is connected through a similar experience. Though I could totally be wrong as I never heard Owl City's interpretation of what it really means. Great song though.
