The best indoor garden may contain those plants that don't actually need much light. You might consider sprouting seeds and mushrooms. Any lighting for the plants would only make the food unnecessarily expensive in my opinion.

I have tried but no luck with indoor stuff. What I am wanting to do is a mini terraium...all the miniture plants and moss for grass etc. I just have to find the plants that will not grow big or can be pinched back and will GROW! I have a little ceramic thing that has a bird house and a "pond" thing..t hat will be perfect for decoration in it, I just have to find the stuff... and what kind of "dirt" to use! I don't think potting soil is what works. So I have to resea4rch things... and I don't like doing that as most of what I find online, I can't find locally and I don't buy online. Look forward to hearing what you go with.
