How does gather work?

Well i found this website called gather but i am not sure how it works.I made a couple of comments in the last few days but i only have 1 point.What can i do to get more points?How does gather work?I am very confused and any answers would be greatly appreacited.thank you.

I think this type of site wants you to contribute quality content. You won't get many points unless you contribute content like posts, photos, and videos.
