I bought the rabbit litter box from PetSmart.
It came with the little box, scoop, and a small bag of litter. Well I opened it just thinking it was colour (I mean the box, and scoop was purple).
Before I opened it I realized it said lavendar scented. I just threw it in the cupboard and may give it to a friend or donate it.
I dont use scented items to begin with and certain not for my aniamls. I phoned pmy friend and this came up. Now Ive always had animals mainly cats and sure they stink but what do you expect.
I mean Im use to the cat litter smell and the smell of cats. My friend goes its gross and people want to cover it up. I know and heard its bad for animals and can cause many health problems which Im not willing to take the risk just to make the place smell nice.

Well, if it makes you anxious I wouldn't use it. I really don't smell my litter boxes since I switched to multiple small ones instead of two large ones. I keep three downstairs in the kitchen and two upstairs, sometimes more. I pick them out often and when they urinate all the way down to the bottom as in it's sticking to the bottom, I pour the good litter off the top into another used. Then I scrape all that out and wash and dry the pan.
I never mix new litter with old litter anymore. I simply let them use the old litter out as I am consolidating box to box. That way when I do give them a new box, it's fresh and new and not contaminated. I have some picky cats who will only use newer litter and some that don't mind older litter. This has worked for me so well and cut down on litter usage. I use Fresh Step, Arm and Hammer and S'wheat Scoop which is able to be flushed.

I dont plan on using it and will be getting other litter tomorrow.
We have about 12 - 15 cat litters in our house and we clean them daily. But we cant flush the litter down the toilet as we have septic. They actually say not to flush anything down the toilet as it clogs the sewer anyways.
They have special rabbit litter, but they say you can also use the paper cat litter as well.

Ah yes, I have heard this. I think it's called yesterdays news cat litter. That's great you have a variety as you know you can never make a cat do what you want and use the particular litter you want him to.
Yep I do worry about clogging that's why I only flush the feces with very little litter on it and not the clumps of urine as I feel there's too much litter in it. That's awesome how well you take care of your cats and rabbits, Kudos.

How well do you feel the s'wheat scoop works. I had coupons for it before I could get it here. I like the fact that it is made from wheat. I would probably dump that out at the back of my yard at the alley. I never used litter for any of my rabbits. The only one that was trained trained himself. I had left a cardboard grocery flat beside one of the cat litter trays and the rabbit would use that. I could get those free and I did not put litter in it.

Scented items can cause alotof respiratory problems and as your brats are already prone to issues I think yourcompleatly right to avoid it I have to use an all natural litter with my cats because my one is allergic to clay litter but I find even before I got him I hated the scented litter they do nothing but cover up the smell and so many animals won't use scented litter
With rabbits its even a worse idea as they have such sensitive respiratory systems

I always buy the unscented litter, I tried the pine cat litter with the cats and they wont go near it and I think its the strong smell of it. I do have a bag of that paper litter and see if they will use it. I just find the clumping litter has so much dust when pouring it so I can imagine when they are flinging it around. Ive been using the wood shavings in the pan right now and Marco has no issies with it and been using the litter. I may try the paper cat litter see if he will use it (see if it soaks more of the pee up). They do have rabbit litter that looks like cat litter but its about $10 a bag and probably use it twice. I mean I wouldnt want to pee or wipe with some strong scented toilet paper or toilet bowl scent.

Not only can it cause respiratory problems, some animals will not use it. My house smells, I would love for it not to, but I have cats. I used to try to use a product called Litter Green, but my cats would not use it. It was not bad for them, however, and completely biodegradable, not clay.Since the cats would not use it I put it in the top of my flower pots so they would quit trying to use the plants for litter box.

Yes, it did. I do not even know if they make it anymore, but I put it in my really large pots as my cats were determined they were inside especially for their private use.

I have allergies so I have to be careful about scents. I am not opposed to scented litter but I generally go with little to no scent more for me than for my cats. I do not think additives are too good no matter what they are but what are you gonna do?

oooh, if it can cause health problems for the animals, i wouldn't use it either. it sounds like it would smell good, so maybe you could use it to scent your rooms, kind of like you would with pot pouri. (did i spell that right?) lavendar has a pretty scent... i don't know; just a suggestion... because if you give it away or donate it, it's likely that whoever receives it will use it for their animals. and it could cause problems for those animals. btw, do you know what kinds of health problems it can cause? just curious...
