The biggest move I made was 1500 miles, was there for 4 years and then moved back 1500 miles. But whether it is a long distance move or just to a new place in the same city, moving can be stressful, unless you do some pre-planning. I start by making a list of things that will need to be done prior to the move or once moved. I also start a file, for important papers, such as accounts and auto papers that will need to be changed after the move. I start packing a month before the actual move, going through things, getting rid of things that will not be moved to the new location. I also pack a box with things that I will want or need the first days at the new place, coffee pot, groceries, paper plates, paper towels, etc. and bathroom supplies, clothes for at least a few days. I also label all boxes, as to what room and/or closet they will go too. With a little planning, a move doesn't have to be as stressful. I also have a small planner to write in important dates, such as the date by which license and registration must be done, any deliveries, and any disconnects or connects at new address will be made.
