vs the boston celtics. these two teams are no strangers to the spotlight and against each other. on one side we have the veteran team of the boston celtics against the athletic and star-studded 1-2 punch of the miami heat. i think heat wins this series rather easily at 4-2 or 4-1. don't get me wrong, i love the boston celtics and i'm a big fan of ray allen but i just don't see miami losing this one. i do see one and only one reason for miami to lose this series. i'll discuss about that one reason in a bit. let me first give my reasons why i think miami wins this series easily. let's start with the star players and then move on to the role players. do remember before miami had the big three of lebron james, dwayne wade, and chris bosh, boston had their own version of the big three in paul pierce, ray allen, and kevin garnett. miami has the best two players in the league right now. one can argue that lebron and wade are not the top two players but they definitely are in the top ten players in the league right now. losing chris bosh is a big blow to the miami heat campaign as they lose their only legit big man in both ends of the court and i do believe this is where kevin garnett can take advantage of the miami heat team. he is playing his best basketball in the play-offs. on the other hand though, ray allen hasn't been 100% as well for boston. so it comes down to the pair of superstars in each team. still, the duo of lebron and wade has a slight advantage over the duo of pierce and garnett. one can argue that rajon rondo is a legit superstar and no one in the miami heat team can contain the prolific point guard of the boston celtics. i think this is the series that the miami bench plays to its full potential and contributes in a big way to take the team to the nba finals. defense will be a focal point in this series. i see boston limiting the offense of the miami heat team but i can't see them fully stopping the scoring machine that miami is. remember, playing defense takes the full effort from all five guys and i can already see match-up problems for boston. who will they have to guard lebron and wade? i can see pierce and perhaps pietrus taking turns against lebron but that won;t be enough. wade will also cause defense problems against this boston team. they can't afford to have allen guard wade the whole game. allen is a liability on defenseeven when he is 100% healthy, what more if he is injured. the plays and isolations that wade will do against allen will expose allen's defensive shortcomings. perhaps boston can throw pavlovic, pietrus, and dooling against wade but wade will get his points nonetheless. when it comes to experience, both teams are about even in this regard. these two teams have played in this type of setting so there is no clear advantage for either team. however, how these teams, specifically, how their players respond to pressure is different. which brings me to what i think will be the only reason that miami heat loses this series against the boston celtics - lebron james. no doubt, lebron is the best player in the league right now. he can easily take over a game and dictate how much will be the winning margin of his team. however, so far he has failed to perform well under pressure. just notice how many times, he has 'disappeared' in games when his team was trailing. down double-digits, with five minutes remaining in the game, lebron james more often that not buckles down under pressure and can't make shots or turns the ball over more times than possible. i think boston can split the first two games in miami. for boston to have a legit shot in the eastern conference finals they need to win at least one game in miami so they go to boston with the series tied at 1 game apiece. if boston goes up in the series,2-1 or 3-2 i think we see lebron unravel and under perform like he did in the past. anyway, regardless of the result, i still think that both series', san antonio-oklahoma and miami-boston, will be great. so my fellow mylotters, what does everyone think of the miami-boston eastern conference series? would love to hear your thoughts. feel free to chime in. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

hi toni. lay off the hatorade, will you? lol! get a number and get in line along with the other miami heat haters. lol! seriously, use your goddess status to distract both wade and lebron so they're not 100% focused on the game.

the miami heat will always be the team to beat. but the outcome last season changed my view on this team. last year, the heat was expected to win over the mavs. but the heat was beaten by a veteran team in the mavs. this year, the celtics team is a veteran team. maybe, the heat will fold up again. but i still pick the heat to win the eastern conference finals.

hi mensab. been awhile man. how are you? yeah, the miami heat have a chip in their shoulder after that finals loss to dallas last year. anything short of a championship is a failure for this team in my opinion. the celtics have the heat's number in the past but miami can definitely beat boston in this series. a miami-oklahoma nba finals is still very much in the horizon even after the game one loss of oklahoma to san antonio. i can't see from a marketing perspective to have 'old men' playing in the nba finals (talking about boston and san antonio's respective big 3s) running up and down the court. after all nba aside from being a league is also a business endeavor. imagine the appeal not just around the states, but more important, globally of a finals series featuring legit superstars wade, lebron james, durant, and westbrook. bananas, i tell you mensab!!! bananas!!!

going to eat crow here. i did say and actually started a thread here in mylot that they can't win an nba championship this year until they do somethings in the way they play and in their line-up. here is the link to that discussion, http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2648835.aspx?p=1#2_23494148. well, what do you know, they did learn to play as a team and mario chalmers delivered big for the heat. add the spectacular play of shane battier, mike miller, james jones, and norris cole and the heat are now crowned your 2011-2012 nba champions!!! again grats to all the miami heat fans and backers!!!

I agree that lebron is the best player in the league now, But he always perform poorly at the crucial moment. speak of Wade, I believe he past his bloom. and without chris bosh, they will suffer a big loss in the insider defend espically garnett display the domination in the last series. The veteran team has great chance to beat them.

hi liuyh0619. first off, welcome to mylot. i'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here. just remember to stick to the mylot guidelines and rules. if you have any queries, you can ask the mylot admin or even ask the more tenured mylot members. everyone is glad to help out new comers such as yourself. going back to the discussion, i agree with the point that you raised about lebron james not performing up to par during crucial games. this has been documented in previous years and it is also something i raised in my thread above. there is a good chance that lebron 'disappears' again in this series especially if boston goes up 2-1 in after three games but that is a big 'IF'. do i think that boston can split the first two games in miami and win the second game? yes. do i think boston can actually pull it off? no! not sure about what you mean about you wrote about wade so i can't comment on that. agree with your thoughts on the loss of chris bosh. he is the only legit big man in this miami heat team and boston has yet to exploit his absence. if boston goes in and pounds the ball inside the paint in game two and they are successful in scoring inside points, the miami heat team is in trouble. garnett and the rest of the boston big men need to assert themselves inside the shaded lane. they were able to do so in the past games in the regular season against the heat and in the previous round against philly so let's see if they can do it in this round. plus, boston is missing the hot shooting hand of ray allen. if allen manages to score by converting those jumpers and deep threes, we may see the heat in trouble. anyway, should be an exciting second game.
