Here is a great site so you can look up the numbers of those irritating silent calls, using 1471. You can see comments from other people that have had dealings with the most irritating companies. There is also a link so you can report any of the worst offenders to Ofcom.

i hate these sales calls and silent calls, on average my house gets about 20 of them a day... its fine if your out (although the constant phone ringing must drive my cats outside) but if your home, i literally just never answer the phone now because 99% chance its those stupid sale calls, its pretty life ruining to be honest, i sometimes think of all the potentialy important or useful phonecalls i am ignoring because of this; but then i realise if it was really important they would leave a message or try my mobile :)

I'm in the UK and get a few sales type nuisance calls per day, but they can't be traced as it's all recorded messages set to auto-dial from a mobile, on which the number has been withheld.
