Exactly What IS Wrong With Our Government??

That question would probably be easier to answer if I had asked what is NOT wrong with our government. Don't get me wrong, America, even with all of her shortcomings, is still and from my viewpoint always will be the best country in the world in which to live. That said I will now exercise one of the freedoms we still have (so far) guaranteed by the constitution--freedom of speech.
The first and foremost thing that is wrong with our government is that they have lost touch with the American people. Lost touch may be too kind, totally ignored is really what happens in today's politics. A prime example of this is the first thing that congress and BHO rammed down America's throats and that was Obamacare. Did everyone watch the countless video clips of townhall meetings all across America of people telling their ELECTED officials--NO, WE DON'T WANT THIS!! Now these congressmen/women and senators, instead of listening to the people who not only elected them but also pay their salaries, went back to Washington and pushed Obamacare through and we the people were ignored. We now have a health care system that mandates coverage whether you can afford it or not(unless the supreme court overturns it)and mandates that college women be supplied with birth control even if it is a parochial college that has a religious stand against any kind of birth control other than abstinance. The real kicker to this Obamacare debaucle is that the real devastating provisions, both financial and policy wise, will not go into effect untill AFTER the November election. Why do you suppose that might be?
Secondly, what has gone wrong with our government is it has become Santa Claus an Christmas is every month. I watched a video clip in a discussion by debrakcarey yesterday that provides a prime example of this. (If you haven't seen it and want to it's in the discussion "Here's the safety net you pay for" in politics.) It has become far too easy to just drop out of the work force, or never even join it in the first place! Not too long ago, maybe a few decades, the American middle class created a huge gap between the rich class and the poor class. Although I abhor the "class" label it is the only way it can be categorized so... Today the middle class has grown so small there is hardly a gap at all and soon, if nothing takes place to prevent it, there will be no middle America, just rich and poor. The reason this is happening is because Uncle Sam (Santa Claus)is making it much easier for the bottom of the middle class to stop struggling with two or more jobs and let the welfare/social system take care of them.
Although there are many more things wrong with our government these are the two largest as I see it. Your comments or observations?

Hello rodney. I believe that we have the government we ask for. You ask what is wrong with our Government. I think we are what is wrong with our government. To many of us are ignorant of how our government should be run and how it actually is. Too many don't know any thing about the constitution or the founding fathers. Too many accept or demand that they have a right to be taken care of through welfare, health care and a right to every thing free. We allow the government agencies to take over our live with little or no protest such as the EPA,FDA and so forth. They are needed but they go to far. . We keep voting in the Pelosi's and Charlie Rangel's and then wonder why we get dirty selfish politicians. We don't pay attention to what is going on in Washington or our state capitals. We let the news media tell us what is happening with out questioning we believe it. No one wants to give p their entitlements. I love this country of ours. She is so beautiful with all the diversity in land and in people. I love the fact we are generous as individuals. There is no other place I would want to live. I feel sorry for those that have given up their citizenship.

Maybe if the elected officials were only given 2 terms in office and no pension they might actually run for office because they care about what the people want. Maybe if they had to use the same health care system or participate in Social Security as the American people they might care more. I doubt if any of this will ever happen.

The biggest thing is politicians who are more concerned with getting re elected that with governing. Right now in government both elected and Civil Servants think they know what is best for everyone. Governments can not fix the problem because they are the problem.
