realistically how many ?'s do you have to answer to make any money on this site?

MyLot is NOT a question and answer site. It is for DISCUSSIONS:
If you participate in discussions rather than posting responses, you will discover that your earnings increase sooner.
Many of us reach payout every singe month because we don't spend our time answering questions but getting involved in back and forth exchanges which is what discussions are all about - and that is what myLot tell us to do here therefore that is what they pay us for.

And if I might add, a proper discussion side is saying more than just one or five word comment. I have only had one payout also since I have been a member here but I have made several friends with whom I have a lot of fun.

Depends. You have to create activity. The more activity your discussions and comments get the more money you will make. Start discussions that people want to get involved in. Hot topics. Things that really make people think, but not too much. And things that people don't agree with. Debates are good, because they get the conversation going back and forth. Try to respond to everyone that you can. The longer the reply the better, but not so long that people won't want to read it.

It is right as far as it goes but to extend it I would add, you will not get paid anything more for the discussion unless you go back and respond to all the activity for that discussion.

Not necessarily. But having the most comments on a discussion would mean that you would receive a bigger share of the payout pie for that discussion.

MrsGoodyGoody if you will forget about the money here and try and respond back to the friends and people who responded to your "questions" then the money will take care of itself. I have made several friends since I have been on here and I have a lot of fun with them. we have parties complete with moon shine or vodka and cake and all sort of stuffs. So come on back and forget the question and answer session and get into some discussing the world events, the weather, or something that will invoke a response from your friends. And then go back and respond to what they have to say, you will be pleased with what you see.

It's not how many discussions you answer, it's how well you do it. As Lamb has put it, you write, you get paid; they write, they get paid. You have to, as mysdianit has said above, respond to the responses to your discussions, and get involved in actual conversations with other members. That way you too can get regular payouts. But let's face it, however well you work this site, it's still only ever going to be pocket money.

grandpa_lash is right. It's about quality not quantity. There's a lot of people on here that have higher numbers then me, but they probably haven't made as much money as I have here, because they just go around posting short sentences on everything, not really adding anything of value to the discussion. I haven't been on Mylot in a long time, because I've been busy with other things, but when I was on regularly I would say I was only on a few times a week, and only responded to about 10 or so things a day for a few months. I managed to make about $500. Although to be completely honest, it wasn't all from discussions. I also completed tasks. Of course the tasks paid better back then.

the possibilities are endless here on mylot. try not to think about how MANY ?'s u have to answer. just think of it this way. the more u type the more u get paid. i remember not too long ago all i had was .33 and not even close to the payout limit. now im almost to that point. i didn't think about how many time i responded to posts or how long i spent online...i just zonned out of the time and kept typing. and before i knew it, each day was a different $ amount!
maybe u dont spend as much time here as u used to. u can't expect to make $3.00 when u spend less than 5 min on mylot...just sayin

There is no fixed rate on how much we earn each answer/post we made, it is all depend on the quality of our participation, so we cannot tell how many answer we need in order to get our payout. i got my first payment last months and I earned $15,5 and now Im half way to reach my second payout 
, I did not count how many posts I have made because it is just flow by itself and then without i count it I got my first payout. Dont give up mrsgoodygoody00, you can start improving your earning by comment back to every response you got, it can help to boost our earning. The more we participate the more we chance we have to get better earning.

I think you will have to be actively participating in the discussions, there is a need for you to share more and post more and you will notice your money would increase. i think you will have to answer about 40 to 60 to be able to see at least 50 cents additional on your account. :D i think it is fair enough especially i was able to confirm this with my experience with other sites such as this and they sure only give cents barely 10 cents for about 50 of discussions answered.

It takes a lot of discussion starting and responding to every day. These have to be involved and relevant discussions and responses; not short little one word or a short sentence or two. For example your discussion about starting this might get you $0.01 if you get some responses and if it doesn't get deleted for breaking Mylot guidelines which can be interpreted by them very strictly and capriciously some times.

You would have to write or answer at least 80 to 100 discussions a day. Then make sure you answered everyone back. It is alot especially if you can't find enough discussions that are interesting enough to answer. Good luck!
