poison ivy ( things i never knew )

Oh, i thought those plants can only make you itch.. It does live up to its name, "poison" ivy. I just looked it up on the internet and saw some pictures of rashes we get from that plant. it should really be avoided.

I'm only familiar with poison ivy as causing really bad rashes and such but not personally. I only encountered it when I was a kid. Back then a friend of mine only had to get near it say a foot or so away and he would break out with a severe rash. I could pick it and rub it between my fingers and hands and I wouldn't have any reaction at all. This was a little weird since I had a lot of allergies and he didn't. I haven't encountered it as an adult so I don't know if my "immunity" still exists but I don't think I would chance it. I hope your daughter is better. Maybe she got some on her hands and transferred it to her mouth and swallowed it and that is why she had the type of reaction she had.

I am so sorry to hear about the poison ivy related misery that your daughter is enduring. :( Poison can be quite nasty. Did you know that if someone is burning poison ivy, and you inhale the smoke, it can get on the inside of you and cause problems? We must be very careful around poison ivy.
