So what is the use of continuing with the impeachment trial if the offense isn't impeachable?

Well, anyway he had a guilty verdict already. Let's just hope that everything will be okay.

exactly my point.. the question was raised early in the trial. why continue when the offense is not impeachable.. i don't know the answer.. but if u read the 1987 constitution.. there u will see the grounds for impeachment..furthermore, the evidences are of weak support. rumors and heresay are not admissible to court.. but again, i don't know why they considered such evidences as substantial..in addition to all these, there were a lot of procedural errors while presenting the evidences.. if this was a criminal case, this would have been trashed already due to violation of the procedures of law.. but..all is finished.. so let's just hope for the best.. this country's slowly slipping to silent central authority..

I hope you were able to watch each senator's statement before giving their verdict. The 20 who found him guilty in referral to the SALN of a government official, and based on his admission of his undeclared assets which he referred to another law and mingled bank account, he has unlawfully did not oblige with regards to the SALN. As Senator Villar stated, "Corona is a good man", and an error in judgment was his mistake, a flaw that has caused him his position. As to the articles of impeachment were narrowed down to three impeachable cases from eight, and defense and offense have hurled their stance on such case, the overall assessment of case is impeachable by law.

i did not watch the entirety of each of the senator judges' statements..i read the philippine constitution as this case has greatly raised my curiosity.. the offense presented is so light and does not even come in parallel to the offenses presented in the 1987 constitution.. grounds for impeachment were clearly stipulated.. a nondisclosure in which simple omission nor gross dishonesty were proven is not impeachable..furthermore, at the start of this proceeding, evidences were not substantiated as there were a lot of procedural errors.. if this was a criminal case, this was trashed at the fiscal level.. that is why i was wondering why this happened in the first place.. i am not pro CJ nor am i anti govt.. but there are some things that are too obvious..

There were eight cases filed and were narrowed then to three mainly dealing with the SALN, and I think it did focus on the undeclared assets of CJ Corona. Although omission or error in judgment of Corona's not fully stating his net worth on the SALN is really not a criminal offense, but he is liable to honestly declare what is written in his SALN. An employee, i think of the supreme court, was dismissed from employment as he was not able to declare his other source of income in his SALN, and with this insinuation, those senators, who gave a guilty verdict, reiterated that no one is above the law, and sadly Corona should go through the same fate as that employee. Is it an impeachable act in accordance with the 1987 Constitution? Well, i guess it was just mere dishonesty relevant to misdeclaring his SALN, and that is why Corona was accused of amassing wealth as there was evidently a big substantial difference in his SALN and his net worth.

I completely agree with you. At times life is very unfair. There are so many people who are good honest hearted people and they go through so much. While those who are bad seem to have things easy.

Once a lawyer/advocate said to me: there is a big difference between being right and getting your right. That already says enough. From now on most people won't get their right since no matter if you go in court or someone wants you to show up there you have to pay a lot of money. And money is what most of us don't have anymore.
