How's Senator Miriam Santiago's explanation to you about CJ's not to be convicted and that the accusations are not impeachable? Does this means that the 20 other Senators who vote for CJ's conviction are those who implements their political thoughts only and not the law itself, if you are gonna based on Sen. Miriam's Speech? Or maybe, I'm again amazed on how Senator Miriam deliver her closing speech, strong and rich. Although, Senate President also did some major explanations and pointing on the articles. Well I'm no lawyer, I'm no columnist, i hate articles, and i suck on grammar What i am only crying here is this "care" about the country and a little penny from mylot. --.--

Well I guess she has some points there. Admittedly the prosecution team are not really ready when they filed the impeachment court and I would not credit it to them the success of getting the conviction. It was by accident that they were able to pinpoint the mistake the CJ made in admitting he had other assets undeclared in his saln. Yes the prosecution team had filed this but they weren't aware of this and it was just coincidental about the CJ's admission because of the Ombudsman's accusation that she has evidence that she has money suspiciously going around different bank accounts. But I do not agree with Sen. Santiago's judgement that it is not impeacheable. I believe that the money undeclared should be declared still since it is in his name and it is his duty to report it in his saln. His excuse that he is prohibited under the FCDU law is not acceptable as this was just for banks and not for depositor. So I guess it was just right that he should be convicted like the ordinary clerk of court that lose her job when found guilty of such.

The moment Renato Corona admitted his undeclared peso and dollar accounts which are really shockingly plenty, i know that he will be convicted. But i was surprised that Joker voted to acquit Corona.

Well let us just say they are coming from a very legalistic point of view. It is obvious that the prosecution did not perform well in presenting their case. It just so happens that there was this accidental disclosure from the defense team that prompted the senators from swaying votes to convict. But both Arroyo and Santiago were looking at the lapses by the prosecution team. They were I think saying they do not deserve to win since the prosecution team did not perform well.

the lady senator had to raise her voice to explain her vote. there was no need to raise voice in that instance. but she did. in my view, she tried to drown her weak argument by her shrill voice and pointing fingers and all the gestures to catch attention. but there was no strong argument from her. the case against corona is very strong in non-disclosure of saln. she refused to see the evidences, instead she focused on the technicalities. it was very lame argument.

Correct, for me too it was a lame argument. I am just amazed why Santiago would always have an angry voice every time she makes her opinion heard. Can't she not just tone down he voice.

If this was a criminal court and not a combination of all sorts, then the punishment might have been different. if there are no factors involved but the law, the outcome might be different. but since the impeachment court and its rules with all related materials are different, it all came out different. They might have been changes or no changes at all but the intensity of the public spotlight and prejudgements definitely was a factor in the verdict. As for the lady senator, I expected those from her. I might be looking at a alien Defensor Santiago if she didn't go that way, even if her message isn't that pleasant to hear. She did have, I will give her, some points to ponder. I will wonder if those points will be even considered regardless of their delivery. Then again, I could always read the transcript for further enlightenment (same with the other senators).

all senator judges have the power and the right to vote and explain afterward why they voted that way period. Now as to the manner of how it is done, it's up to them but how the Filipino voting public would interpret what was said and how they would judge them is up to us, so I think the lines drawn are very clear, they are judges so it is but natural that they would have dissenting opinions. I am not sure and please correct me if I am wrong but after what she said there is a small group protesting her appointment to the international tribunal on the grounds that she is....so and so. Miriam has her opinion and the people like us have ours, and this is how democracy works

I salute Senator Miriam Santiago. Even if she knew that the impeachment was already pre-judged long before the trial ended, she still voiced out her objection. In some points she was indeed right and I admire her for having the guts to speak her mind in front of the whole Filipino people. If she were to run for senator again, this speech will not affect her candidacy because people knew deep in their hearts that what she said was the truth. Perhaps, the laws were interpreted differently because the other senators did not have the guts to contradict the popular trend. Remember that this is a political exercise and not a legal trial where the rule of law would prevail.

we should just respect its own decision. Sen. Santiago acquit CJ Corona in some reasons that other senators did not see.

I think, each one of us has his/her own opinion with regards to the issue. Whatever Senator Miriam's decision, I respect it. How I see her as a tough and competent Senator still did not change. It should not only be CJ Corona's (now Corona) issue that should be put into table. In my opinion, all the senator should be investigated also in order to know who are those corrupt officials. I think all the government official are corrupt (if not, well I am sure most of them).
