what do you buy off season? i mean, i am often the first one in line the day after Christmas (here in Canada, it is called Boxing day and it is a stat holiday but stores are open) but other than that?
we lucked out when we went to Staples a few months ago. They had brand name back packs on sale and we got several for over a dollar and a couple for under a dollar. we have been using these as presents and for our own daughters who normally get a new backpack in September.
Right now, (yes, i know its 90 degrees out), i am thinking Christmas as well as next winter and checking out my local thrift stores for things that i can make or wear when it gets cold. what about you?

I've been thinking of getting a new winter coat. The one I use is already several years old, and it isn't really warm enough when we go up the mountains during the winter.
I was thinking of driving down one of the outlet shops near the highway. I know there's a Columbia outlet store in one of them and I think I might get a deal on a winter coar when it's scorching hot outside.

I really think that the better question for me would be to ask me what things that I will buy when they are full-priced. The reason that I say that is because of the fact that I absolutely cannot to spend the full price on things. I typically buy all of my wrapping paper for the following Christmas during the week between Christmas and New Years. I will pick up gifts for my children throughout the year when I see things that are on clearance and last year I bought new Winter coats for my children from Amazon in June.

we just try to buy when things are on sale any time of the year. We don't always have money on boxing day as I am on pension but when we need something we try to catch a sale.

Im always trying to plan for the next holiday or upcoming need. I wish I had a better stockpile but I dont. Im trying to get better at planning Christmas early so I know what I am looking for all year. Its hard because some people are so easy to shop for and some people are so hard.
My favorite sale of the year is the back to school sales. We do school at home so we can save a ton by buying it all when its super cheap. We buy the notebooks buy the bundle and then we always have a new fresh one when we want one and we only payed a dime for it.

The day after Christmas I go to the craft stores and buy all their Christmas items so I can get a head start on next years projects. I make several homemade gifts and start in the summer because there have been years when I work the holiday season and by that time I am no longer in the holiday spirit. I will have to check out my local thruft stores and see if they have anything I can use for crafting.

My husband and I are going to Hawaii in October (our very first vacation away together in 20 years). He said we should wait to buy new shorts and stuff in the fall when they will be on sale. I initially agreed but when it comes to clothes, they remove the summer stuff and put fall items out come August. It will be hard to find summer clothes in October unless shopping by the Sears catalogues and sale flyers.
I always thought they should put ice cream and ice cream novelty items on sale during the winter months but they don't. In some stores it's hard to find them at all in the winter months.
I guess it depends on the stores and what you're looking for. Clothes, you would think, they would want to get rid of rather than put away because with a new season comes new styles and last year's styles don't usually cut it. We have a heck of a hard time finding a winter coat in January because usually the spring lines are out... and the winter coats are sold out.
I can't really count on off-season shopping, and I'm in Canada too.

I also start right after Christmas shopping for the next year...I have had a few times when I forgot that I bought something and run across it later....you can always save it for the next year....I like buying clearance things...like last year I got a whole bunch of short sleeved shirts for this summer....I save alot doing that.
