Kills 5 cows. Repeadedly, they've told people not to text or phone and drive. This is the worst not-paying-attention-to-the -raod accident up here so far. It's a good thing he didn't hurt children or the farmer. What do you tell the police? I didn't seen an entire herd of cows? Sometimes one cow, usually a young one, will move out in front of you after it's gotten away. But to hit 5 cows when they're all being crossed, that's too much. Now we all have to deal with check points and a crack down for the next four weeks. Gee thanks you jerk.

Now that is ridiculous, like many said already including you, a herd isn't something to be missed. So when these idiots have wrecks because of texting you will have checkpoints for 4 weeks? I hope he also has to pay for each cow, that will cost him in the thousands...

NY State, the idiots constantly make us pay for thier mistakes. One person doesn't refrigerate something for a church dinner or cook it correctly, now everyone has to take a health department class on refrigeration storage and healing food properly.

I'm sure he will have to pay for those cows. Plus fines and lots of other things. Yes, just what we need checkpoints for a month. So if we're running late, we'll be later.

I don't see how you could not see an entire herd of cattle even if you were texting unless you didn't look at the road at all! Good grief. It's a wonder he's still alive (if he is?) Hitting just one cow can total a vehicle.

Dodge Caravans are pretty big. Killing 5 cows is terrible. Yes, the knuckle-head behind the wheel is still alive.

Hitting a cow is like hitting a brick wall. I've seen it happen and it isn't pretty.

It's got to be horrible. I had a deer jump out in front of me on a foggy night and that was awful. She was just a small doe. I can't imagine hitting a cow. Let alone 5 of them.

Personally until people wake up and realize how dangerous this is it will continue to happen. People just need to be educated more to where they realize a life is not worth either pulling over or waiting until they get home.

here in Ontario (Canada) it is illegal to use any electronic device while driving and the fines are pretty steep, yet, they still catch people who refuse to obey the law or think they are above it and still text and yup, if they are caught, they are fined.

It's so dumb. And so dangerous. It's illegal here, but they really weren't inforcing it. I don't think they thought people were doing it taht badly, like maybe at a red light they would do it or something. But this accident, I think was an eye opener.

This driver needs to learn a lesson. If talking to your phone while driving is dangerous, how much more when you are texting while driving? I can't imagine why people are like that. Why they can't wait when they are on stop mode before they will text? or pull over and text... than go on driving while texting. Ridiculous!!!

Absolutely ridiculous. It's not worth taking someone's life. If he had had a small vehicles, that accident would have killed him.

I do not understand why people think they can text and drive at the same time. If I just look away from the road for a second or two I often have to react quickly. A car can slow in front, a car can pass and I need to slow, an animal can run onto the road, hundreds of things can happen. It's against the law here, but it is easy to hide what your are doing.

It's against the law here, too, but you'd never know it. I always see people looking down in my rear view mirror. I fear many more accidents.

What a pillock. How can you miss an entire herd of cattle? It's not like they're hard to miss.

Yes, that is the main reason that someone should neither text nor call while driving.. he killed cows! WHat if they were people? What would he say then. those poor cows.

Yes, poor cows, they were only crossing the road because the Farmer led the lead cow and the rest followed. The Farmer and his/her family must feel horrible. I hope the 33 yr old ding dong learned his lesson. It's rough enough being cows that he killed. People, that would be horrible.

I hope he paid for those cows at least, it is not so easy to take care of them and some people make a living from them, their meat and milk, it is a big loss losing 5 cows.

I'm sure his insurance probably paid for some of it and he had to pay for the rest. NY State everyone must have insurance to drive a car here.

I know and could relate exactly to this, remember my country is the texting capital of the world, yes so many dangerous, uncalled for and funny things happen if you text while driving.
