The world chess championship was held in Moscow, Russia between defending champion Anand and the challenger Boris Gelfand.
The 12 Game match ended in a tie with both scoring 6 points each. Both could win only one game.
Gelfand won the 7th Game and Anand won the 8th game.
So tie break had to be implemented. 4 rapid games were played and Anand won the 2nd game and three games were drawn. So Anand won the tie-breaker with 2.5-1.5
By doing so Anand has successfully defended the world champion title for the third time in a row within five years!
Both players being 40+ old played measured and cautious Chess though in raoid games they went for wild games.
Congrats to Anand! And also congats to Boris for putting such an incredible fight and making champion to run for his money!

Yes! I just saw the good news on tv!! Im so proud of being an Indian. This is his 5th win. I hope when Anand retires, Parimarjan Negi can take over from him for the India chess front.

It was a moment of proud for all Indians. It was a close match and at last anand retained his trophy. His was a great moment. they were shoulder to shoulder through out the games and it was really exiting. There were lots of things to learn from these games for up coming chess players all over the world.
