Xbox 360 freezes

When I start a game after a little bit it freezes and I can't play. What can I do to fix this?

That is most likely a scratched disk. Is it only on one game or does it happen on all of them? If it is happening on all of your games it is possible that it is over heating which means you either need to clean out the back where the fan is or put it in a spot that has better air circulation. Truthfully this is all speculation and I would need to know more before I can give you a straight answer

It gets red lines on the screen. I don't think it is a scratched disk, I think it is something with the x-box. Should I try cleaning the lazer? what is the best way to do that?

Is your xbox under warranty? If it is opening the case to clean the insides will void that warranty. So I would not suggest opening the case yourself unless you know what your doing or you have no other options.

It is not. I don't know what I'm doing, but would you suggest taking it to someone who knows? is it worth the money or should I get a used x-box to replace it?
