How many of you put your children in Private school? Is it by choice because the areas you leave do not have good schools or do you just think that private schools have better education. Those of you who use public school systems what is your stance?

I will choose neither, because homeschool is 10 times better than those 2. Homeschool showed better results of learning more than public school and its more affordable than private school.Bullying happens in both private and public school. Home schooled kids are more disciplined and they also graduate much more earlier than the traditionally schooled kids. Also homeschool is more customized to the child's skill.

in traditional school we were forced to learn things that are not necessary and wont be applicable on our skills. Homeschooled kids did well in life cos they study based on their talent and skills in where they will prosper.

you raised a good point captalbert.
i think homeschooling isn't being looked into as a viable alternative for students and parents alike. anyway, i'm sure home schooling has its pros and cons so it is not for everyone.
just curious, were you a product of homeschooling? or do you know someone who underwent home schooling?
i'm very curious as to how this work for you and others.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I have had my children in public schools, private schools, and home schooling.
It has always been very important to me to support the public school system, especially in the places where I have lived. I have often been a person of privilege, and could send my children anywhere, and thought it very important to support the public school system.
However, in one case, the public school was so horrid, that even after trying to work with them for a couple of years, I finally home-schooled my children. As the first responder said, I also experienced many of those qualities in home-schooling. Plus, I enjoyed spending the time with my children, discovering more things about them, and customizing their learning experience. I dare say, I probably learned more than they!
I also have had experiences with my children in private school. In the one case in which I did this, it was only because the public school system was so dreadfully horrible. In this instance, the private school wasn't much better educationally, and, to one extent, morally. But they did treat their students with a modicum of respect.
If I had it to do over, I would home-school my children from start to finish.

Peer pressure, Bad influence and bullying, those are the reason why the traditional school system is flawed. Plus having too many classmates gave students hard time to study. in deed kids who are homeschooled have a healthier relationship with their parents. If I became a parent I wanted a kid who is comfortable with their own skin, they say homeschool kids are introverts but I met many homeschool kids who are socially fitting in and have a high self esteem.

The home-school children I've met are quite confident and knowledgeable. Also, problem solvers not afraid to think.

hi baileycows.
i enrolled my daughter to a private school simply because i'm impressed with how the school molds its students not just intellectually but in other aspects as well as well. my brother and cousins are enrolled in the same school so that was my basis.
although i think there are differences, i couldn't say for sure that private schools are better than public schools. i think it boils down to a number of factors like the teachers, the school, and the class/students involved how the student will perform. i was a product of the public school system myself and i can say that i was able to hold my own when compared to my peers who studied in a private school.
anyway, more than the school, i think there are other factors that affects one's success in the field of education.
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I do studied at public school during grade school and then private school when I was in high school.I think it they both offer good quality education indeed, sometimes it is in the student if they really wanted to learn.Being a teacher is a hard job, kudos to them.

My kids went to public schools but they did good when they entered college. It seems like there was hardly any difference. They got better grades than those who graduated from the private high schools. I think this all depends upon the student if he is really bent on acquiring knowledge. We happen to be a family of avid book readers and computer users. This must have added to their education. Two of my kids have gone to the public state universities which were highly rated with the kind of education they provide, gaining more excellence than the other private universities. The kids don't mind staying up late in the night or the early morning to review for the exams. I don't force them to study that hard but they just simply value education.
