Cannibalism on the rise?

Caution: this story contains graphic account of cannibalism. http://patdollard.com/2012/05/zombies-rising-san-antonio-woman-kills-infant-eats-brain/ We heard recently on the news of a homeless man in Miami being attacked by a drug crazed naked man who was eating the poor mans face off. He growled at the police when told to stop, the police shot him four times before he died. I've also heard of human remains being used in supplements coming from China. And N. Koreans have resorted to cannibalism to survive while their leaders live in luxury. I have to tell you, I'm getting a bit freaked out.

I wouldn't be freaked out really. People have been eating people for as long as there have been people. Honestly think about it: the only real reason that we go 'Oh my that's scary or freaky' is because of T.V., movies, video games and all of the zombie coverage. Really we should be saying "ewww that's gross", and "I hope they stop those psychos," just like we say about serial murders or rapists or terrorists. Yes I find it deeply disgusting, and I am terribly concerned for the state of our world, because of all of the goings on, but I am not freaked. What will happen will happen (like a zombie Apocalypse) and if you can keep your head? If you don't freak then you will probably keep your life if faced in an unsavory situation like that.

Have so many lost the ability to be morally offended? It's more than just gross. Gross is someone eating rotten food or eating poop, this is SICK and EVIL

and that is precisely what I meant. Your statement that people have been eating people for as long as people have been around touched a raw nerve with me. people have been doing a lot of things since people have been around, doesn't mean it is not evil. And I'm sorry, but 'gross' is not a strong enough word to convey the feeling I get when I contemplate this phenomenon. No need to argue. I'm just really disgusted at this. We are loosing our humanity. That tends to bother me as I have 11 grandchildren who have to live in this world for awhile longer.

You're right. Humanity has very little humanity left. That is obvious, not only from what we're talking about, but from - everything. The starving people all over the world- big corporations lost 1 million this year and the world is ending. People can't be happy with whom ever they want to be happy with, and that is a big topic, front page news worthy- yet American schools slip down another notch in the world standing and nothing gets said about it. I have met 'honor roll' seventh and eighth grade students as customers in my store who can't add $4.99 + $5.99 on a piece of paper. And we are sooo worried about other things, and as long as we stay worried about the other things, the big issues can be conveniently set aside for the moment, and our children suffer for it. It is truly sad. Great topic, I am sorry I hit a raw nerve, I guess being a mom myself, this doesn't bother me as bad as the things I am dealing with in the day to day.

Why be freaked out? Humans are made out of materials that are used in all other animals. It's all meat and when eaten, it turns into the same things that other animal meats turn into. We are made of everything we need, so why not eat ourselves in stead of burying them in the ground and letting all nutrients and materials go to waste? It's like throwing out water or food! This is a crazy view, but think aout it!

Sorry I won't think about it. See folks, this is what we get by telling a few generations of children that we are ONLY ANIMALS.

yes this was my idea.We must understand we are no different from animals.

Biologically we are animals and you are right. We are just the dominant intelligent animal at the top of the food chain. Some low animals of any specie will not even eat their own kind unless it is absolutely really necessary for survival. The man on the news is deranged from the chemical he has taken and it doesn't matter what it is. The point is, as the dominant intelligent specie on earth, we should know better.

It's prophecied in the bible, so I have always expected that it would and will indeed happen..

the heart of man is desperately wicked, who can know it? And God will give them up to their reprobate minds.... It is one of the signs of the end times that evil will increase. I agree and I believe it too.

Ugh! Just the topic I needed tonight. I've had an upset stomach all day. Anyway, I wonder if this is all being reported for a reason? I can't imagine what reason, but so much is going on that I have to wonder. Just like all of a sudden there were stories all over the place about bullying, when it never hit the news before. Something just seemed strange about that. Back to the story... I wonder if people really are losing touch with reality? I remember a study I read about long ago where they put rats in crowded conditions and they started fighting and... eating each other. I don't even like to write that. Then they gave them enough "personal space" (whatever that is to a rat) and the fightings and cannibalism stopped. Food for thought, maybe.

Sorry... I really didn't mean it to sound like that! Don't you think that the Hand of God and what is going on here is connected? I believe that God uses what can look like naturally occurring events to finish His plan. He no doubt saw all of this a long time ago. Things are drawing to a close, just the way He said they would. He knows the limits of man's depravity.

Oh, I most definately do believe that this is what we were warned about as a sign of the end times.

Peavey, 'food for thought'??? maybe it is something like that. Or maybe we've just reached the limit of God's patience and the wall between us and true evil has been taken down? I'm sick of thinking about it too. Shouldn't have posted this discussion. I was just so shocked and so dismayed at the thought of it.

I live not too far from Miami and this story still scares me. This may sound crazy but the first thing that comes into my mind is zombies. It may seem silly to think like that but I can't help it after watching so many movies and tv shows. I'm curious to see what the toxicology report will have to say. So far, the local news channel is saying he was high off a combo of LSD and bath salts. That kind of stuff definitely freaks me out.

It has been established the man was high on bath salts and LSD. What more can the toxicology report show? Am I missing something?

That's what they suspect. The reports are done just to confirm everything. They can't just assume that's the cause, they have to do a thorough check of the entire body to find out for sure.

I have just taken the time to read ALL of this fascinating discussion. Whatever the reason for all of this, I too find it creepy and very, very disturbing. Some things are just not right no matter how you look at it or what excuses you can come up with for it, and cannibalism is one of them. I don't know if it is actually happening more or just being reported more but either way, in our part of the world it is just wrong on so many levels.

People say we hear more because of technology. I don't know about that, I just know that the tally is up to six stories. One was enough, six is scaring me.

A lot of really disturbing news of late. We Canadians have our own nutcase on the loose. After killing and dismembering someone, he sent body parts to two of Canada's political party headquarters. He posted a video of the murder on the Internet. Guy's a bit of a chameleon as well. Apparently he escaped to France and could frankly be anywhere in the world by now. Makes me think of Sodom and Gomorrah. Are we descending to the level of depravity that God finally decides to blot us out as well?

I linked to that story on this discussion somewhere. He is reported to have eaten parts of the body as well. I think your analogy with Sodom and Gomorrah is spot on.

A bit????? You are getting "a bit" freaked out? This is frightening Debra,,,,it's scary, for me at least. And what causes this cannibalism crap? The thought of one animal eating one of its kind is scary and surprising for me, if it's between human beings it's worse.

I'm trying real hard not to get totally freaked out. I have to maintain some sense of 'real' and 'normal', I live with four grandkids under the age of 13. Can't let on I'm scared or they pick up on it fast. Are we seeing the disintegration of civilization? Truthfully, that's my worry.
