I love to shop for colors of the season, in the Summer I like to get a new shirt, even if it's just a cheap T, in bright colors of the season, in the Winter I wear mostly dark colors, black, brown and dark blue with just a bright colored accent
but for Summer I want to go all out, whatever $5 will buy me. Big Spender

i dress mostly like you. since i lost weight over the summer, i have been thrift store shopping and bought a few new things like a new denim skirt (my old was too big) and a couple of nice shirts. yesterday, i bought a pair of shorts and a winter sweater (looks brand new!) and some new stuff that they had which i will use for Christmas gifts.

If I were to lose weight I could shop my drawers and closets. I have some great stuff, but need to lose twenty or more pounds to fit things.

I am a t-shirt fan for sure and especially in the summer. I like the ones that make a statement either in color or some design on them. Bright colors in the summer or winter are my choice. However, because I'm loosing so much weight, I'll be frequenting the thrift stores for sure.
Personally, I think fashion is a matter of individual taste and all the NEW fashion designer stuff is just way to expensive and if I tried to keep up with it yearly, I'd be broke. I prefer to choose clothing that is classic in design and doesn't require yearly updating. But with the weight loss and I do mean significant loss not just a few pounds, I will be changing my wardrobe.
Thanks for the discussion!

Thank goodness I also sew, because many times finding anything that fits properly is impossible. I've found a lot of things that I alter from thrift stores and sometimes I just use the cloth in some item to make something usable for me. I have one simple shirt pattern that I've kept for years that is predominately two pieces of fabric, front and back with 3/4 sleeves. I usually choose the type of cotton that doesn't wrinkle easily and those shirts have lasted me for years. But, like all clothing, they are wearing out. So... either I have to make some more of them, or search for a lot of t-shirts. The good part about that one shirt design, it is pretty much a one size fits all and it may be more advisable to make several new ones that will go through all the weight loss than buy a bunch of t-shirts. Pants are a different thing. Getting them to fit, will always be a challenge. lol... I gave up years ago on the business suits and high heels. I do like some of the summer dresses that are truly cooler than any shorts or shirts. But those, I usually find at Costco for around $15 each and they are wash and wear. They work well for those places like church where I need something other than t-shirt and jeans.

You and I both! I will rarely spend over $5 on an item of clothing. I did find a nice shirt with blue and yellow in it and some sparkly accents for $6 a couple of weeks ago and I bought it. I'm wearing clothing I've had for years and decided I deserved something new!

Until last winter, I would always wear dark things when it was cold as well, but then I discovered that it can change your mood entirely if you wear brighter things even when the weather is not bright. Since I discovered that, I chose to do this every winter, because other people say that it makes them feel a lot better about everything if there are people wearing bright colours. I love going to the shops and buying things that are in the colours of the season in the autumn, because there are some absolutely beautiful colours around then.

While I do find that I do wear a lot more bright colors during the spring and summer months than during the fall and winter months, I do tend to wear bright colors throughout the course of the year.
I believe that the reason that I tend to do this is because of the fact that the bright colors compliment the colors of my body a lot better then the darker colors that are typical during the cooler months of the year.

Yep learn to adapt, learn from nature especially the animals, It's not a mater of price or even fashion at times but it's about being practical. Well summer is almost over here and it's already the start of rainy season so I have to adopt to that too. Summer, I'm in my trusted Levi's, Wrangler and Lee jeans that I have had for 8 years now most of the time and some good quality white cotton shirt, I am willing to pay more for a good cotton shirt or at times long sleeves that's comfortable than cheap crap that's all around here right now

I tend toward brights even in winter. More classic colors though like red, green, royal blue. Spring I want yellow and leafy light greens and turquoise. I spend a lot at thrift shops or off of sales racks. I also get lots of t shirts for blood donations. I am busy giving platelets with great frequency.

I do that too! but i also try to put a little color during winter so I don't look too dull. So I usually avoid dressing in all black and or grey. I love summer, one reason is because of the colors I can wear like bright pink, red, yellow, oranges. Time to bring all these colors out now :)

I wear the same thing winter or summer. To me it does not matter what season it is. I always wear t-shirts and either jeans or sweats. If i feel like wearing a light green shirt in the winter, then so what. But I am partial to dark colors anyway. Mostly black.
