So I can't swim. I wanted to know how to swim. I am very afraid of those water because I have been nearly drowned for quite lots of times. And when my friend told me to learn how to float on the water first, I tried. But I felt myself sinking. And because of me, too afraid of the water, I still cannot swim until now. I wish to learn. So I really wanted to know the tips on learning to swim and also make myself not to be afraid to the water. :)

You need to get rid of the fear first, dive into the water to get rid of it and used to the water pressure.. Every one can float, but don't throw out all your breath because it make you sinking easier... Try to float while holding on the side of pool then release your hand... It's better if someone watching you in case if you're sinking... After that you can try to learn swimming style... Good luck :-)

Its main possible if you are afraid to bring up the courage to swim is a swim. You have to have it, because I think the courage you can do it. Once you have the courage, you go down to the pool, for starters, you can move your feet with your hands holding the edge of the pool. After that little bit without holding the edge of cola. Good luck.

The first thing in learning to swim is to get rid of the fear of water.Just be in the water. At first in the shallow parts of the pool. Then try floating. Then try paddling once you got floating. Its actually very simple. But for the one afraid of water it can be tough. So just think that you have life guards around or something. And try and enjoy it.Being in the water. I love to swim.It feels sooo gud. and i am sure that once you get over your fear of water. Then you will too.

You must get rid the scared first... So dive into water to get used to water pressure... Then take a breath, hold it and try to float while holding on the poolside then try to let go your hand... There must someone watching you incase you are sinking... After that you can start learning swimming style :-) Good luck

Having a friend or teacher there in the water with you to help support you until you gain confidence in floating would be very good for you..I first learned in a swimming pool that had a hand "rail" as part of a drain channel that ran all the way round the pool...I recall before gaining confidence just pulling myself along in the water using this rail! We DO float in water..but if you panic thinking you will sink or drown, you will flail around, shout, and lose bouyancy and go under...Having had near drowning episodes, you've experienced this before..swimming is about.being calm and in control..drowning is a possibility when you lose control. Practice in shallow, calm water so you're not out of your depth.use a float device or board for confidence.hold onto a friends hands in waist high water and allow yourself to relax and float there..you can put your feet down any time and start over.stand in water deep enough to support you,but shallow enough that you could stand up. Push with both feet on the bottom, and holding your arms out in front glide on the surface...put your feet down again, and repeat..It's all about confidence and practice...good luck!

Your friend is right! First thing you should know is floating. If you're that afraid of getting drown why don't you try it on 4 feet. You should imagine yourself to be light as a feather and try to be more relax like inhale and exhale to learn floating. And lastly, try to conquer your fear. You can do it! :)

When I was a boy, when it came to swim, I was quite scared. I have learnt many swimming class, lots of my classmates knew how to swim, but I could never learn how. My sister knew how to swim, so she taught me all the time. She used her hands to support my belly to make me feel I was floating, two summers have been past, and in a magical moment, I got the knack on how to swim. So it is important for somebody to be with you and to encourage in the learning process of swimming. Stay in the water, stay with your coach who is absolutely confident that you can swim one day!

The spirit to conquer your fear is the best tip that anyone can start with.If you are too afraid to swim start in the swallow water of your local pool and ask somebody to assist you till the time you don't gain confidence.

I don't know how to swim too so I guess we have the same problem. I've taken up a swimming class when I was still in college but that still didn't help. It was because of my allergies though and because I get cramps easily. I think I have no ability for it so I'll just cheer for you instead. I hope you get over your phobia for it and learn how to swim.. =)
