I just heard that P Diddy, a famous rapper/ producer, is blessed with a son who has won, not was given but won, a full scholarship to UCLA. He has a 3.7 grade point average and he is going to play football! But instead of people seeing the way this young man has worked hard to achieve this honor, many are so upset. Why? Is it that P Diddy has more money than G-d?If he wanted he could pay for All of his schooling plus many others! Or is it that his son is taking a scholarship away from a student that Needs money help to go to college? Why are people so upset? Are you upset with this?

A little. I mean if he earned it he earned it. Fine. But how many people have a 3.7 grade average and would never get a full scholarship? On a side note I didn't even know P-Did had a kid.

But he got it for his prowess at football, not his grades.

Even though I am not clear who the P Diddy is and what 3.7 grade point average means, but I admire the son for him standing on his own feet ,instead of living in the shadow of his father.

Hi friend. Thanks for your response. Let me explain. P Diddy is a wealthy man. He started as a rap artist and now has a empire. He has enough money to send about 20 people through college and grad school. His son had a great grade average, a 3.7 out of a 4.0, and earned a scholarship to one of our famous Universities. Many people are saying that P Diddy should pay for his son to go to college and let the scholarship go to a man who needs the financial help.

That is the whole point, the young man earned it . It wasn't given to him! Whenever I start a post and you are not too sure what I'm saying , just ask my friend. I'll explain. Sometimes there is a huge culture gap!

Thank you for explaining that to me,otherwise I am kind of confused. As I see it,P Diddy's son deserves it .It was not so much a question of money as honour and fairness .No matter whether you are born to wealth or not,the scholarship must go to students who have high grade point average because the scholarship isn't charity.

I thik the problem is when someone with money to spare wins more mo ey, even if they deserve it, they take it away from someone with less financial options.

First of all, I'm not sure I'd use the word "upset", but this DOES bother me a bit. I guess it's the money and it's "something else" in a way. I think Diddy and his son should both be very proud because the son had to have worked very hard for such good grades, not to mention apparently doing it while playing football! He certainly deserves the HONOR. However, what bothers me is that it WILL take some much needed help away from other deserving students who have worked just as hard but who would have no hope whatsoever of going to college without some kind of "help". I know the conservative, "survival of the fittest" gang here will say that's tough, but I'm seriously worried about what's going to happen to many of our young people who may find themselves stuck in a "rut" their entire lives because they can't afford higher education but miss out on any grants or scholarships. What I think would be wonderful would be for P Diddy to start his own scholarship fund so other people's sons have the same opportunities as his despite not having wealthy parents! Annie

I agree; health care and education are two things I consider to be RIGHTS, not privileges for the chosen few. Annie

I went on a partial scholarship when I was in university. And although that school that I went to was supposedly for the under-priveledged, there were a lot of rich kids there too who got scholarships because of their own efforts. I liked it that way. That the school didn't discriminate with financial status. As long as the kids did their work, and they earned their scholarship.

That is how it should be! All walks of life meet in school and mix. I'm glad you got to go to school in that type of atmosphere!

I think it is awesome that he has earned it and is not using his 'status' or his fathers fame to slide through life, he is not his father, he is his own person. Now, yes daddy could pay for everything, but if his son earned it fair and square, it's his, and the other kids that were going for it at the same, if they didn't win it, they didn't win it. Life kinda sucks that way there are winners and there are losers. and in contest like this it doesn't/shouldn't matter who your daddy is. Or that's the way I see it.

I heard a lot of this stuff on ESPN radio this morning. People are jealous of the rich. They already stated the scholarship fund is not coming from tax dollars. It's a total athletic scholarship. And if he earned it, which he did, he should keep it. He didn't get it for grades, just for football. Although of course you have to keep your GPA up to a certain level to keep it. I'm what you would term poor, but I'm sick and tired of people being all over other people just because they are fortunate to have wealth. This young man did not earn his daddy's millions, but he earned his scholarship. And he should be proud of it.

I think P Diddy's son deserves congratulations. Winning a scholarship like that is an amazing achievement. But I also think that P Diddy should do the decent thing and pay for his son's schooling so that some other young man can have the benefit of the scholarship. I hadn't heard this story.

It's about the money and jealousy. Who cares if P-Diddys kid won a scholarship. It seems he did it on his own and he should get it. I do not see it as taking it away from someone else. Just because his father is rich should have no bearing on that at all.
