The other day, my friend suggested to watch a movie and it wasn't horror but it was very eerie and I was pretty scared. It reminded me of a few friends I've had a few years ago who loved scary movies. At that time, I forced myself to watch it with them because I didn't want to be a pooper, but those nights after for me were sleepless. After a while, I'd excuse myself from those movie nights but those friends were pretty upset that I wouldn't participate. So, I hope to meet another person who doesn't like scary movies one day, ahhaha!! But anyways, why do people like scary movies? Do they not get scared or do they like the feeling of being scared... the adrenaline rush? Also, if you do like scary movies, do you get upset at people who don't? Why? Do you think there's a psychological definition to people who do and who do not like scary movies? My imagination runs wild after a scary movie.. and I am pretty obsessive.. perhaps people like me avoid scary movies? Thoughts?

I like scary movies but I certainly don't get upset with people who don't. I really don't know why I would like them so much really...maybe I am looking to be surprised or something. It is that most of them are very predictable though. My grandmother watched them and read scary books..maybe it is what you grow up with that influences it.

I like them for the fun of it. I don't get scared of them. And besides they have not made a scary movie that scared me. It would have to be a very well made movie for me to even jump. I am still waiting for that one movie that will make my skin crawl, but nothing yet. It seems most of these movies are made form the same formula.

There were three horror films I Had to see , Carrie, The Exorcist, and Psycho. Why? They were talked about and I wanted to see why. But that is it for horror films for me. See if my so called friends need me to se these films with them , they wouldn't be friends long. I would have said no the First time they invited me! I asked the same question about horror films and most said they like the rush they get being scared. I go to films to be told a good story , Not to be scared!

I like to watch really scary movies. Some movies are not at all scary even though they say so. I don't get frightened or am scared after watching it. Scary movies are somewhat like a suspense thriller movie which you will be eager to know what happens at the end.

People rarely view horror films alone. Violent entertainment appeals primarily to males, and it appeals to them mostly in groups. For many young people and adults, horror films are a topic of conversation, a source of shared experience, and a means of self-presentation. Not everyone will like the blood and gore, but many may continue to watch because of other goals, such as demonstrating their ability to tolerate it, or the desire to master the threatening images.

scary movies like violent movies allow negative energy into your mind. The orld is flooded with these energies why would anyone want to invite more. Adrenal rush, that's why. Just another addiction. But always each of us has the choice.
In the world it is hard to always be aware of these issues. Blessings.

Personally, I prefer horror, suspense and thought-provoking movies over romantic and feel-good films, my reason for that is, I would like to ponder hard on the stories being presented on screen, I would like to go deeper on thoughts thinking what will happen next, I like the unpredictable scenes because it will provide a participation of my mind in the movies. The romantic and feel good movies are often unpredictable and it feels like my brain is being stuck out of no where and become very useless with the film I am watching. Since cinema and DVDs are expensive nowadays I don't want to spend on films that made me an idiot for two and a half hours.

I avoid horror movies! I'm very much like you, and I don't like to scare myself silly. The way I see it, movies are for indulging in emotions like happiness, sadness, or the thrill coming from watching someone else's adventure. Fear is not an emotion that I want to be indulging in. I'd rather sleep at night. And not jump at every noise and twitch every time I catch something out of the corner of my eye.

I am quite the same as you.. But i love watching horror movie, some of my friends like it too. We sometimes have movie nights/afternoons. I don' even know why i love watching them, since it takes me weeks to get over them, especially if they are really scary.. i just read a horror manga yesterday and i couldn't forget the face of the girl, her severed head which was staring at me..

I don't like scary movies either. I feel like there is plenty to be afraid of in real life. I have never enjoyed the feeling of being afraid, and don't understand why other people do! When I get done watching a scary movie I always wonder why I abused myself like that afterword. it's really nice to know that I'm not the only one that doesn't get excited about watching them. It actually sort of disturbs me that people have thoughts
Like that, and create movies about such horrible things to entertain people. Why are people so entertained by horrible things?

I grew up in a house infested with ghosts so i thought I am though enough but yeah some horror movies are way too disturbing for me that it make me sleepless. If you watched horror movies everyday though, you will get used to it and you wont be as scared. The more you avoid them, the more you will get scared. well horror movies are not that disturbing if you are alone in your room, but if you are married, It will make sleeping more romantic cos you can hug your partner tighter.

I do feel so,the people who likes to watch scary movies,of course there have some psychological factor behind it.Though you believe or not i even have such expeiences.
My deep thinking most of the time brings me up to some peculair conclusion and may be is the reason of my scary nature,it isn't possible to talk over here all the moments.
Such a scaring isn't limited to ghost, horror etc,it also seem to be in other fold.
Out of all this i love to watch scary or horror movie, even though this lead me to scary more and now i being addicted to it.
