Just Like The Old Horror Movies - Abortion for Gender Selection Is Legal?

It does seem like we've awakened in a different world, doesn't it? Things we would never have dreamed would happen are common now. The veneer of civilization is wearing thin, I think. There have been cultures throughout time that killed all the female babies as soon as they were born. Abortion, and by that I mean killing the babies before they're born, is just a technological step that does the same thing. Partial birth abortion is the same thing as backwards, undeveloped people do and have done for ages. We are no different, we just wear more clothes than most of them and pretend we're something when we're not. To answer your question more directly, we have "turned into" what we always have been: Depraved, selfish and short sighted. My heart cries, too, not only for the babies but for the people who kill them. How can they be so cold?

A male or a female baby is God's gift. When a person can't accept God's gift, then how will be his/her prayers heard? Aborting a baby is equal to killing a person and she should be punished for killing an innocent life, only then the abortion rate will come down.

I just watched a video about this being illegal in 4 states and did a search here on mylot and came up with nothing newer than 4 years. Sorry but I went ahead and posted a new topic about it. But I couldn't believe that there isn't already a law against this kind of thing, its sickening!

It's a huge problem in China, since boys are the ones able to support the family and they have a one-child policy (getting laxer with that in recent years, thank God, but since this has been a reality for many years...) girls are often disposed of in favor of boys. That leads to an unbalanced gender ratio, which naturally causes other problems. Last I heard, the government was trying to provide incentives to keep girls, and of course they're letting up on their one-child policy more. I think this is just one of the issues that abortion raises. In a society where one gender is preferred over the other, no doubt pregnancies with the unfavored gender could potentially be terminated.

Too bad, but this is happening. But making it legal is like saying- everyone has the license to kill.

Fatcat, I am going to key in on the question you asked, if you don't mind. What we are turning into is a country without a soul. When the powers that be want to emulate other countries because they think that what we are is not good, they come up with all kinds of things that have the effect of dehumanizing us. Were you also aware that the same bill you are referring to also addressed the subject of abortion because of racial 'characteristics'? NOW, that is something to talk about as well.

It is amazing and shocking that 30 to 50 years ago something thought was unthinking is common place in today's world. It is awful that gender based abortion is legal. In my home country abortion is allowed up to 24 weeks pregnancy. A baby girl is just as wonderful as a baby boy. I do not agree with abortion and would not ever have one.

This is a sin and a crime too.our culture preaches gender biasness though female has always been struggling for her rights but till date she is not given her due.the practice of discrimination starts before birth in the form of abortions , later at the time of birth called infanticide,in many countries girl child is not privileged to choose her soulmate and if disobey leads to so called honor killing.female is an epitome of compromises in the form of daughter and wife,world is full of male chauvinistic ideology and female is always the victim.thus world is full of male preferences due to the patriarchal setup of societies .such mindsets leads to the sins that causes a gender inequilibrium . I too cry for such acts but we as educated youth should play a more responsible roles as generating awareness for this cause.In many countries it is banned and is legally termed as a crime , when human start interfering with the natural processes it leads to big disasters .
