Whats happen with italy.. after lost from US 1-0, now they are lost again from Russian 3-0.. it was not good for their morale...remember their first opponent is the winner of euro cup 2008, Spain.. let us see the starting line up Italy: Buffon (De Sanctis 46); Maggio, Barzagli, Bonucci, Balzaretti (Ogbonna 53); De Rossi (Thiago Motta 60), Pirlo (Giovinco 68), Marchisio; Montolivo (Nocerino 60); Cassano (Di Natale 68), Balotelli Russia: Malafeev (Akinfeev 46); Nababkin, Berezutski, Ignashevich, Zhirkov (Kombarov 86); Shirokov, Denisov, Zyryanov; Dzagoev (Kokorin 85), Arshavin, Kerzhakov (Pavlyuchenko 62) it seems that italy play with the best team... But russian play more effective in this game.. I think cesare prandelli must do something very quickly before the tournament and the first match... he must fix and improve whats going on happen in his squad.. are you italy fans?do you worry their chance in this euro cup?

dear adhyz82 actually lost is result of poor performance, but poor performance is not result of poor competitiveness. The purpose of warm-up game can be only pratice or keep feeling of competition or something else. There is no need to keep winning all the time. Besides, winning in warm-up games has no use for the cup game.Just look at Netherland.

Are you aware of the morale of the Italian team at the moment? http://ansa.it/web/notizie/rubriche/english/2012/06/01/Soccer-Italy-would-withdraw-Euro-2012-asked-_6966707.html

Yes I know about the 2006 result but at that time they did not have so many other problems too like the economic crisis and the aftermath of the earthquake. I don't think that, if they continue, the result will be the same as 2006 this time.

it is not about eartquake. it is about the quality of the coach marcelo lippi is the better for cesare prandelli so he can use all the bad news during their preparation as the motivation for his player... i don`t underestimate cesare prandelli quality, but if now the italy coach is Fabio capello, i still believe italy can do something in this euro cup

I think the element of match fixing that is surrounding the Italian team is taking it's toll on its form. It's coach Parandelli was mentioning that he would pull Italy out of the cup if UEFA asks them too. I just think they have too much on their hands right now to have their minds only on footballing affairs. Cheers! Ram

I know, but it tells us about the state of their mind. I think the problem is because this is the third time within 2 decades this has really raised it's head in Italian football. Around 63 players are defendants in this case and around 22 clubs which is pretty huge by any standard. Cheers! Ram

Those players that are suspected of involvement in the scandal should not be selected to represent Italy. Those internationals that are not involved should play their hearts out to show the world what Italian football is. To pull out? For what? If the whole of Italy is worried too much about the few bad apples, perhaps they should follow what their Prime Minister said about the suspension of the Serie A, which is ridiculous and useless to solve the issue. The Italy coach's comment about pulling out is utter nonsense. His job is to play, not run away.

Playing with a full strength squad doesn't always mean they try 100% of the time. Italy often takes friendlies as a joke(I would love to know the reason) for example the warm up to the World Cup vs New Zealand. Let us see how they play in the real thing before jumping to conclusions.

i dont believe italy team and prandelli use and admit the friendly game as joking game.. it is show time and they can use the friendly game for preparing who is their starting eleven.. even it can`t describe all the strongest team, but i disagree when you said that it was joking for italy

Italy is no longer a powerhouse like the past where they are feared by opponents. When a league is plagued by match fixing scandals, it certainly hit those players hard and shake their morale. Trust between players is gone because they don't know which player is going to throw the match for personal gain. Italy has some great players but unless they play as a team, bond themselves again, i can't see them doing well in Euro this year.

Italy did not play well, so they lost. No player likes to lose matches. But those were just 'friendly' matches. I won't read too much into the results because even if they win all their friendlies, like England did, it does not mean that Hodgson has found the perfect formula to win the Euro for England. By the same token, Italy does not need to be so panicky about the losses. The result may just let them know their weaknesses. Anyway, Italy's chance in Euro is slim and may go home early. It may not be mattered anyway what their friendly results are.

of course..win in friendly game before the tournament can give possitive effect for their morale and lost in friendly game before the tournament can gives bad effect for their morale.. yes,of course they know the difference.. but remember our heart will be influenced by a good or bad game before the tournament...

'but the result of the friendly games can be good or bad for the team during the real tournament..' - you mean, a win in a friendly will have a positive effect on the team when they play in the tournament, while a loss will dampen their spirit? If that is the case, the team concerned must be a young and inexperienced team, and very likely is not consisted of professional players. Friendly matches before a big tournament are used mainly to gauge the players and test some formation or combinations. They can play 11 different players in the second half so that everyone can have an 'outing' which is exactly what the game is for. Professional players will know the difference between a friendly and a competitive match.

Never read too much into friendly matches. While Italy seems to be in disarray, remember they tends to rise to the occasion. Remember 1982 and 2006? This could be their year again.
