Do you still respond to discussions that have already selected Best Responses?

Isn't it dissapointing when you see that small but glorious pencil-shaped icon on another user's comment?
"Oh NO! Now responding to the discussion is not worth anything!", some of us may think. But what about the others? Mmhmm? Are you the optimist or the pessimist? Lets see what you have to say.
All perspectives are welcome. Share yours!

Receiving the best response does NOT add any earnings at all to your account.
Therefore it is absolutely still worthwhile particpating in a discussion where it has already been awarded, especially if you have something to add which might have been overlooked.
Receiving the Best Response possibly makes the person who receives it feel good about it but they will not have any extra earnings in their account at all. I never respond with the hope of receiving it as that is not what myLot is about at all. The fun of myLot is participating, not receiving 'awards'.

Even though the best response doesn't technically mean anything, sometimes it is disappointing to see they have already selected one. But I usually only get disappointed if the discussion has been around for only like two days and the BR has been given. I'm like, wait, what? I didn't have time to get there! I think that way because often I assume if they have given the best response they won't bother to read any of the other responses. I wait two weeks before giving the BR, but even when I do I still read all the responses that come after.

So, when we write a discussion we are then supposed to pick a best response? Never heard of that before may I ask where this pencil thingy is?

I have read comments where people say that they will not respond to a discussion once the best response has been selected. I never really pay attention to that when I read and respond to a discussion. In fact, most times I do not even realize how old the discussion is (how long ago it was started) when I respond to a discussion. There have been times when I have responded to a discussion that was several years old and only realized it was started that long ago when someone made a remark about it. I just read and respond to what interests me regardless of how old it is or whether or not a best response has been selected.

Sometimes I still respond / comment on discussion who already had BR on it.
If topic / question on that discussion only need one correct answer (and already had BR), there no point why should I involved on that discussion, opener already know the answer anyway ....
But if topic / question had many angle, high possibility I gonna involved, at least I answer /respond on different angle (perspective).
BR only make happy person who received it but his/her earning not influenced. Discussion itself still open.

I have no clue what a ?Best Response" IS or why it might not pay me to respond to/on a thread that "shows" that icon, since I don't see it now!
I am just on this thread because @purplealabaster 's husband #2 is here... I am looking to see what he says about different things, since I can't talk to him on myLot otherwise.
Nor am I worried that he won't respond to me so I will get paid nothing for being on this thread. PA will respond, so I will still get paid for my comment here.
Interesting... The old myLot was a lot different from the new incarnation, I guess!
Hi, PA! Just checking out your husband(s)? on myLot! (Aren't you glad I don't do things like this in real life?! LOL! Love you, Dearheart!

And what makes you think that I will respond here? Oh wait, I just did ... forget that first comment.
On the old myLot we used to have a "best response". It didn't really do anything except give you "bragging rights". I think it was supposed to help encourage quality responses, but it didn't really do that. Most people didn't care about it, and others would get jealous or angry if someone other than them got it. I think those are some of the reasons why they did not carry that option over when they changed formats.
Also, in the old myLot we were paid for OUR OWN interactions. We had a saying "I type - I earn. You type - you earn". I actually earned very well back then. The new earning algorithm is based on other people's interactions with our content, so I barely earn, even when I am very active. I guess that many people do not like to interact with my content.

@DaddyEvil LOL - yes, I know that you love me as do a few others, and I love you guys right back. We are not really the right "type" for mainstream myLot, though, so there is limited back and forth on many discussions, which reduces our earnings.

I never take any notice of whether or not a discussion has marked a best response. If I get an e-mail through saying that one of my friends has started a discussion then if I feel I have something to say, I will respond to it. The links take me to a "post response" page and I don't even know if somebody else has said something similar. I will post it anyway. Maybe this is wrong, I don't know, but if that is the case, then it should not bring me to the "post response" page, but to the main page where I can see what others have said. I tend to be an optimist in life, but of course everything is subject to its opposite and if you are an optimist by nature, then pessimism will come up from time to time, for you to know the difference! _Derek

I don't care if a best response has been selected. I just reply to a topic if it interests me or if I find the discussion lively and happening. I don't mind if a response has already been selected as the best. I just expect the discussion started to respond to my comments. If he/she doesn't, I get pissed off.

If it is a worthwhile discussion, I respond regardless of whether a "best" response has already been selected. Unless the topic is time sensitive or narrow in scope, there usually is plenty to add to the conversation.
Having said that, I do think that it can be often be difficult on here to find discussions to which to respond.

I completely agree with you wilsongddard, especially what you said about finding juicy discussions. Yours truly himself takes on this hefty task and is compelled to create the most divine and intriguing topics of debate right here on mylot. Just kidding.
Thanks for the comment, dard.

Hiya jziakhan,
Still respond whether or not it has a best response on there or not I don´t mind I can´t be bothered about it really I can´t.
I know what you mean but you cannot be in every page at the same time.
There are times when you do not feel like answering anything at all depends on how the mood takes you.
So no I don´t bother about those things and just respond in any case.

Hi jziakhan! Of course I still do response to discussions that already have BR on them! It doesn't matter really, as long as I am interested in the topic and I got something to say then I join the discussion. Sometimes, I'm just curious about one's response and I ask him/her for more information thus I still participate..
It makes me happy when I receive best response but that's just an add-on. What matters are the learning and of course the earning
Good day!

I agree to everything you write in here girl_thinking. =) You've pretty much said what I want to say in response to the discussion.
Best response or not, the important thing is to share my own opinion in the discussion which I'm interested in.

I am not sure the point about closing any discussion. OK let say there is a discussion about the US Presidential election, it would come to a natural end around November 20th 2016, but most discussions raised on MyLot are not like that, surely most discussions should be treated as open ended.

Hello, jziakhan. No. I only respond to discussions my friends started, new, no responses, (because I made a promise), and those designated as "hot".
I have looked and I do not recall ever answering one that has a BR. But I may have missed one or two.
I mean you cant get it every time, right?

Usually while response to a discussion in mylot i dont care whether it had already selected a best response or not. I discuss on those topics on which i have some thing to say. so i post my response and dont care which is the best response. because i want to express my views. not to get the best response.

Yes, I still respond even though a best response has already been selected. I respond to discussions that are of interest to me where I have an opinion or viewpoint to share. I usually read all the responses and then add my own two cents worth. It's always worth responding to a discussion if it's something you're interested in.
