What things do you do to improve your writing skills?

I think the two biggest things you can do to improve your writing skills is to just read and write! That simple. The more you read the more you absorb good writing techniques. And the more you write the better you'll get at critiquing your own work. Write about anything and everything, then read stuff outloud to yourself. I think when you read outloud, you'll hear things that sound "off" a lot better than if you read it in your head.

I have over 190 articles on EC and now I am getting about 300 views per day on my articles. I would definitely say like many others have stated to keep writing and reading. Write about anything as one never really knows what will be popular or not. try to write one article per day, that is a good exercise.

Well writing skills doesn't differ than any athletic skills. As soon as you "train" the better you'll get. Read books/articles and the more you'll write the better you'll become :)

The first thing is to write, write whenever wherever you can. write about what you know well. write about popular topics.

I think that the best and more true way to improve your writing, is just by writing. Writing is a skill that true writers never are taught. And really, I have found writing books to be rather useless, as they just lead to bland and cookie cutter writing styles with no imagination right in them. But that is just the experience that I have had. I will say this however, there are times where the greatest exercise that a writer can have to improve is to write about something they would not normally write about. To me, that is just something that will lead to a lot of improvement. If something does not work, just keep going back to the drawing board. It is all about trial and error and experimentation.

I suppose practice makes perfect.So i definitely think that it is of course the utmost important factor to improve your skills.Anyway,this maybe a simple suggestion,but indeed the most efficient way.Just read more and write more,i think everybody would get improved.

To improve my writing skills, I read a lot of books, blogs, news and articles, I try to notice words that are new to me and how the sentences are witten. Also the grammatation. Then I use what I learned on my writing or when I speak to someone.
