Now I've seen it all (?)

Ok, I probably haven't nearly seen it all, but this was funny.
Yesterday at lunch, Tony and I walked to the lake. We did our usual thing, sit on a park bench and enjoy the view and each other's company, when he says, "why is that woman carrying a potted plant?" I look, and there's this woman carrying this HUGE, but obviously fake, potted rubber tree type plant.
So we sat and watched as she and her friend put the tree down on the grass by the lake, set up chairs, put on Hawaiian gear (leis and a pareau), sit down, pour themselves a drink in a large martini style glass, and sit down.
"Posing for pictures", I said.
And sure enough, somebody took a few pictures of them, then they picked it all back up and left.
Maybe they wanted somebody to think they had gone to Hawaii? lol

Haha, that's great! Maybe it was some sort of inside joke? My mom has a group of friends that call themselves 'the flamingoes.' When they have their outings they carry an inflatable pink flamingo with them and pose with it in various locations for pictures.

Maybe we need to come up with something like that for MyLotters. It could be kind of like a flat Stanley.

You never can tell. It is funny. Once upon a time, when our old Wal Mart had a snack bar these two couples came in. You could tell, it was originally supposed to be just a quick snack. Well--the one girl whips out a white linen table cloth, stemmed crystal, china, silver ware, etc. The other girl gets busy with pictures. What was bad was I knew some of the people involved and it was just too funny. So, is Tony the new beau or just a friend at work?

Sounds weird, huh? You never really know what people are up to now days. Posing for pictures and doing on their lunch breaks. How fun is that?! A drinking lunch it sounds like at that.

Maybe they just wanted to show off their awesome potted plant? lol I don't know. I will admit to putting on costumes and taking pictures in the forest, but it's usually cause I'm excited about said costume and posing as a fantasy character. I see people doing all kinds of strange things when they're taking pictures...

I think you must have enjoyed the time spending in the park. I also like spending time in the beach during the weekends. I do not go to beach all Sundays, but will try to spend time and enjoy time in the beach. I think it is fun watching all these things. I think most probably loved the potted rubber plant and trees.

Befpre you mentioned the pictures I thought they were on a staycation. But now? I assume they told everyone they were going to Hawaii and now they are taking pictures to prove they went. It is sad.

Not necessarily. Maybe it was just a joke or something. Or maybe they just wanted an unusual background for their photos. Maybe they were experimenting or something. It is wrong to judge their motives that they were being deceptive, when you don't know if that is the case.

It was fake, I'm sure, or it would have been way too heavy.

Who knows? My daughter is into photography and some of the props and things that she does with her friends definitly different. If we lived closer to each other I would probably suspect you had stumbled upon my daughter. I can so picture her doing something like this. She actually has a very good eye for photography and applied at a couple of colleges in hopes of getting into the field. They were impressed with what they saw. The problem is that she keeps changing up her mind as to what she adtually wants to do. This is common with artistic and creative people or so I'm told. She did do some of her friend's senior pictures for dirt cheap but mostly she does stuff like what you describe and posts in facebook.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. Usually it's ducks and geese and remote control boats.

Potted palm huh. Weird picture story comes to mind, ever go on Facebook and see a picture of someone with YOUR bathroom in it? That happened to me. Apparently this person just looked so absolutely ta die for the day she visited me that she needed to snap a picture of herself posing and hamming it up in my bathroom. Either that or she was having a smashing good hair day or... she didn't quite think her bathroom was up to par for Facebook.

Wow...of all the bizarre things I've seen, I've never seen anything quite like that. XD Though, what you witnessed is far more preferred than what I have witnessed, I'm sure. Being in public is always an adventure.

When you think you have seen everything something else comes along to prove that wrong! Maybe this people told other people they were in Hawaii and they took the photo's as "proof"! Whatever the reason thye did this, the story is quite funny! LOL!

We are living in a make believe world and what you saw could just be the tip of an iceberg. We hear of so many phony activities. And what about morphing? That is truly frightening. This reminds me of a picture my sister and I as kids took in a fair where the background scene was a Mercedes. We had to pretend we were sitting in it!!!

Or maybe they would join a photo contest for a free trip to Hawaii? Just thinking out of the box! :))
