I'm nearing the end of a 24 year term and was wondering if anyone is aware of good electric rate promotions to check out. I'm especially interested in any green / 100% wind / 100% hydro options. My current rate is effectively 8.5 cents /kW at 2,000 kW of usage ($4.79 base charge, plus $6.24 meter reading charge, plus $0.0536 /kW usage charge, plus $0.0263 /kW delivery charge, plus some taxes). Gexa wants to raise that to 10.2 cents /kW at 2,000 kW of usage. My effective rate is actually much higher, as my average monthly use is far less than 2,000 kW (500 to 1500 seems to be the average). If I can find a provider that has a slightly higher rate but a much lower monthly fixed fee, that might also save me some money.
