Ebay Payment Question

I sold something on Ebay.... it is saying Waiting for Payment.... When I set up my account, I did that whole PayPal thing that it asked me to do... So, should the money just eventually show up there? The person did the Buy Now thing last night, doesn't it automatically take them to the PayPal? I guess I should not ship the item until the money hits my PayPal account ~ I don't think I care for this whole Ebay thing.

Yes, it absolutely does take them right to pay pal. And if they do not pay they did not officially buy it. I think it's still three days, you can do a non paying bidder on them. Three non paying bidder notices and they are kicked off. You are allowed to then re-list the item. Make sure that you apply to get your listing fee refunded. I also don't care for them. I stopped selling and buying on there years ago. I couldn't stand their ridiculous policies or the stress from a ton of things on there.

I have been listing a few things on Craig's list. With them the people want to come to your home. I really have a problem with strangers coming to my home. I feel as if they may not all be honest and just come to your house to scope it out. However, Craig's list seems to be really popular, so I should just get over that fear.

When I lived in the west I sold a ton on Craigslist. I originally started the whole meet people in a public place thing and quickly got tired of it. Mostly, they wouldn't show or they didn't have a G.P.S. and called and said they couldn't find me. So I just switched to them coming to my house. In the west it is absolutely no big deal. If you go on one you will see how busy they are, there are people who admitted to me they sit on there all day. Many make a living off of it. Not so much in the east. We had a big yard sale before we left and other than a few stolen items in the middle of the night no other problems ha ha. But I jumped right back on the second I got to the east. Lots of people have to come to your house for any number of reasons. The neighbors freaked me out more than the people who came to take our free stuff ha ha. The way I look at it crime happens everywhere. You can get killed going to the supermarket. I worry more about my husband getting shot at his job.

Yeah, I can see how it would be impractical if you sell a lot of things on Craigslist. I try to arrange it so I meet with buyers at places I plan to go to anyway. That way, I can at least get my grocery shopping done if they don't show!

I think there is a setting you have to choose if you want to require buyers to pay immediately after using Buy It Now. Otherwise, they have so many days to make their payment before you can open a non-paying bidder case with Ebay. You shouldn't ship the item until the money is in your PayPal account. If you ship it to the buyer and they never pay, they probably won't send it back to you.

Ugh. I've been thinking about trying to sell some things on Ebay, but the more I read from people who sell on there regularly, the more it seems like a huge hassle.

Absolutely right frugal mommy, never never ship an item until it paid for. You also have the option of cancelling a bid if you look at a buyers feedback and see that they have left a little too many negatives for sellers. It is terrible on there anymore because the sellers cannot leave feedback for the buyers so many buyers blackmail sellers.

Although you used a b'buy now' setting, a buyer can bypass paying. I think EBay lets buyers do that so that they can buy more than one item and pay for them all at once. Some people including regular bidders don't seem to pay right after the auction though. Have you sent an invoice to the buyer? Some buyers don't seem to pay until they receive an invoice thay includes the shipping charge. If they don't pay after a few days, send an e-mail to remind them.

Did you send them an invoice yet? The first thing you need to do and you should get notified of this upon sale, is to send the winning bidder an invoice. Then you wait for payment. I recently had a winning bidder not pay, that was not fun. I did everything that I was supposed to and they never contacted me. So I reported it to Ebay and they got no response either so I was able to relist the item for free. I am not a big fan of selling on Ebay either. It can get very time consuming.

No, I didn't send the invoice. Whenever I've bought things on ebay, ebay sends me an invoice immediately. Also, I've always gone immediately to Paypal to pay for stuff I've bought.

Yes, you are right, don't ship the item until the money hits your account. Or else, you will lose money as well as the item. You can tell the person that you will be delivering the item soon.
