Went to the park

While those that know me knows I live around several parks, I found one that I did not consider a park except for sports as it had the big ball field. off to the left was a arm of water that looked like a smooth floating river if you did not look to your right as it would open up to the bay.
I found a swing there placed by the park to sit on.
So Thursday I went and made a sandwich to take and was knitting a dish cloth enjoying the weather.
I must have noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head and there sat a raccoon a few feet from the swing I was sitting in.
He was perched and sniffing. I realized I had a sandwich and knowing raccoons carry rabies I guess I decided right there and then that I would share my sandwich with him.
I tore the sandwich in half and threw him his half. He sat there perched picked up the sandwich and ate it and then walked off. I had left my cell phone in my car or else I would have taken a picture. I guess he was happy I shared my sandwich with him. I did notice though that he went to the water and took a drink I imagine he did not like the mustard on his sandwich

I saw some deer last week at the park.
I have a picture so will have to post here in a discussion.
We actually have some black bears on our local Air Force Base.
tons of woods so naturally bears are there. I got to see one when I went to the base one day.

That is awesome that you were able to see a raccoon that close and that you shared a sandwich with him. That would have really been enjoyable. That is a bumper though that you forgot your phone. It would be neat to have a pic of that.

Good thing that the raccoon ate the sandwich, i thought these animals do not like such for food, or i am just mistaken. he he i have really no idea as to the raccoon... we do not have such in the Philippines...What we have walking around with no owners are cats, or stray dogs... good for you thought that the animal did not come any closer and has not caused you trouble. =) sometimes it is really good to be relaxing in such an environment, right? parks and all...

Unfortunately raccoons eat anything if they want it.
We were staying in a resort down by DisneyWorld and the raccoons would come out at night to get in the dumpsters to see what they could find.
WE finally brought them a box of french fries so we could just watch them eat LOL
