Are toddlers ready to accept homosexuality?

Marvel is soon to release comic book episodes that portray gay relationships in its Green Lantern and X-Men comic series. I remember watching episodes of Queer as Folks where Justin and Michael ventured into creating a comic gay superhero named Rage. The comic book depicts homosexual acts in passionate scenes in print, and I foresee that Marvel, might in the future, release similar comic strip versions in its publication. While I do not have any negative feelings against homosexuals in general, I believe that Marvel poses a threat to its mostly young audience-- kids as early as young as 3 to 5 years old-- by exposing such sensitive issue on their sensitive minds. Just as their target audience are not affected by commercialism and trends of the times, these favorite media of hobby and reading literature should also be insensitive to commercialism and what is happening in society. I maintain that comics, being a favorite print media for young and innocent minds, should inculcate good morals and right conduct, and mold them into intelligent, responsible, courageous, noble, cooperative, good team player and leader, kind and helpful citizens who aspire for justice, equality and peace. However, homosexuality and the relationship appurtenant thereto are sensitive issues that can be accepted by mature and responsible individuals. Being as such, I strongly oppose this idea of theirs. It's time that they should assess their role to society and the lives, minds and perceptions of young people who look up to superheroes as role models of rightful living.

I think it is the wrong way to give the message to kids... PArents should be the ones to talk to kids about this subject not a comic book, it is a little weird. I have no problems with homosexuality but I agree it is a sensitive topic. They need to rethink this idea!!!

I agree with you on that, Lauraleigh. I just hope more concerned US citizens can rally against this move by Marvel Comics.

I never read comic books, so I don't know what's in them. I thought they portrayed super heroes who stood for truth, justice, and the American way? Is there anything more to them than the hero saving to world from the bad guys? What does homosexuality have to do with that? This sounds to me like a form of indoctrination. If indoctrination is necessary, what happened to the idea that someone is born that way?
