Overestimating your own energy

Today I visited the family from Burma. I am a volunteer language teacher for them and I usually visit them every week. I told them that I had to take a break from the lessons in July and August, because I can't manage two jobs and volunteer work as well. I am happy that I have made that decision. I love my volunteer work, but one job from Monday to Friday and another job in the weekends and volunteer work would be too much. I feel much better now. I will be able to focus on my work and I will also have some time to rest in my home when I get back from work. I have planned a few day-trips with my friends, but I also need some time to relax in my home, because it is quite hard to work 7 days a week. I tend overestimate my own energy and plan too much, and I thought that I was able to handle two jobs and volunteer work, but I know that it was the right decision to take a break from the volunteer work, because I feel more relaxed now. Do you also tend to plan too much and overestimate your own energy?

yes, porcospino, i too overestimate my own energy. and intelligence! i wish i had a lot more energy than i do because my brain works much faster and better than my body! i have learned that i need a lot of rest to be able to function, and if i don't have it i will get sick very easily. i hope that is not the case with you! but you obviously hope to be helpful to others and to do so, you must first take care of yourself!

psychoartist yes. artists and computer software engineers they may become tired because of the nature of work. in software you may not get the desired results easily and in arts satisfaction will not come. so artists must relax one day in a week and that too not strain by going out too far or drink too much.

Porcospino fine. that is nice. it is better to have only 6 days work in a week. but as freelancers -- we get work for 7 days also and after a few days we may not have any work and i do mylot work. If one is below 40 he can take more and more.

I also think that it is better to work 6 days a week instead of 7 days, because when you only work 6 days a week you have one day when you can relax. In July and August I am going to have two jobs. One job is from Monday to Friday and the other job is Saturday and Sunday. I called my boss and asked him if I could get some extra work in the summer holidays because I need money for my vacation. He said that I could get as much extra work as I wanted, because in July and August the other employees are going on vacation and he needs someone to do their work. I will have a busy summer, but I am happy.

Thanks for the nice comment about my photos It is my dream to live from my art, but I have to combine it is with other kinds of work. Yes, after the summer holidays I will be less busy at work. July and August will be busy months for me, because I will have two jobs at the same time. The other employees are going on vacation in July and August, so I am going to do their job while they are away because my husband and I need the extra money.

Porcospino: I saw your profile and also photo pages. Very good. creative photos. As you say you need more work in order to earn more for self and the family. If you get more work then accept and do --after summer the work load may come down. You are young and can afford to do more and more. enjoy whatever work you are doing. good day.

I always ended up like that specially when I'mm going to the big city planning too much to occupy my time in staying there. Because I can't go there more often that's what I supposed to do. But sometimes when I got there most of my plan got broken. When I'm here in my house online jobs multitasking task around the house that keep me tired the whole day.

It sounds like you are involved in many things, Porcospino. While these things can be fulfilling, I think that it is wise of you to take a break from time to time. It is good for us to help others, and it is also good for us to take the time we need for our own health. I, too, tend to overestimate my own energy. When I am planning things, I continue to think that I have the energy that I had when I was much younger. I am often disappointed when I cannot accomplish as much as I used to, then I remember that I am no longer as young as I used to be. I usually feel much better whenever I take pace myself at a more reasonable rate, taking into consideration my actual energy, instead of the energy of a much younger person.

I recognize the things that you wrote about energy and age. I don't have the same that kind of energy that I had when I was 20, but sometimes I forget that. I was really active at that time and I was able to do many things at the same time. At that time it probably wouldn't have been a problem to have two jobs and voluntary work as well, but today I know that it was the right decision to take a break from my coluntary work, because I feel much better now that I have made the decision. I love my voluntary work, but I don't want to have a stressful summer, so I think that it will be better to focus on my work.

For what it's worth, I think you were wise in this decision. I have no doubts that you love your voluntary work -- why else would you do it? But it is wise for us to take care of ourselves.

Everytime I look around my friends who are better than me,I feel jealois.I hope I can be better than now.So I plan to work harder and take full use of my time to learn something needful, but actually,I seldom take actions to realize the plan.So sometimes,I feel confused and glommy.I am not overestimate my energy,I just dream a lot and take actions a little.

Sometimes I cannot fulfill my plans of accomplishing everything I set out to do. When this happens, sometimes I ask myself, "If I had a better strategy would that have made the difference?" Well, I can't always predict the future, and as spontaneous as I may be sometimes I can't always predict myself. When plans of doing things that I plan to do fall through, I can only learn from it and try to find out why. I really am a go-getter, and sometimes I have to be careful not to spread myself too thin.
