Hello Lady1993, I don't know what to say, supposed am happy about it. But with our country be the best in english, we are sacrificing our own language, did you know that most youth of today prefer to speak english as their major language than tagalog? or even visaya or maranao or any other native tongue that are not being taught because of english. I wonder, what good is the english language if United States or western nations suddenly crumbles and nations like China started emerging. sometimes there has to equality in learning both english and tagalog and native tongue but all is english

We won't forget our native tongue ever. But we should practice English as it is the base language in any major transactions that we may encounter. Remembering our native tongue is fairly easy since most Filipinos still use Tagalog as the medium of communication. English on the other hand, is still rarely used in everyday life so it is much harder to learn English.

I'm confused how so many countries can apparently speak business English better than native English speakers. England isn't even mentioned in this list, and neither is the US. Even Australia and Canada are way down the list, beaten by countries where English is a second language. Weird.

Hi lady1993!
Yes, I am happy that we are the world's best country in business English but I am not surprised. This is one of the reasons why there are many BPO's that are mushrooming in our country because of this reason. This is not surprising since we are taught English when we are still in Kindergarten. The first songs that were taught to us are English and there are some parents who talk to their children in English. And there is nothing wrong with this as long as we don't forget to learn, love and be proud of our mother tongue as well.
I hope that our country will be able to keep up with this. Thanks for reading!

Yes! We should be proud of it! Not only that, we are also a place of very talented people. I remember when some group from other country have this search for Pop Artist and they visited several Asian countries, they admitted that when they came to the Philippines, they had a hard time choosing for the winner because there are a lot of great performers from our place. So instead of choosing 2 which they did on the other countries, they choose 3 from our country.

I am not surprised that we ranked no, 1 on that, lady.
It is obvious that we Filipinos are really good in verbal as well as written English. One good evidence is the mushrooming of the BPOs or the call centers. In most offices the medium is English as well as in schools.
Thus, Filipinos can be at par with those whose mother tongue is English.
