List of 100 things you want to achieve in life

One teacher told us once in class about some Harvard students who have written their dreams down on paper. 10 years later, the those very same students who have listed the things they want to accomplish down on paper, actually achieved their dreams. I wanted to do that, too. Although I'm not quite sure who I really want to be in the future. I know I few things that I want to accomplish in my life, both long term and short term goals. To start, I listed a hundred things I want to do, no matter how impossible they may be or how funny they may be. Like this one I wrote about wanting to eat a lobster even just once in my life(since I have never eaten one and I'm really curious if they taste much better than crab or just the same) I list them, 0-99. 0 is the most difficult to accomplish and my general objective: to become 'happy and whole' as a person. I even jot down some silly things like 'help solve world hunger' and 'help fight corruption' that kind of stuff lol Anyway, after reading this, don't you feel like making a list of your own too? If you haven't yet, that is.

At my age... I probably should settle for 10 things I want to do this WEEK! I don't think I have time left for 100 things... Not that I'm really that old, but my health isn't the best...

10 Things to do in a week is much more attainable and realistic.

It doesn't matter how many things we want to accomplish, what matters is we are doing our best to achieve those goals.

I've achieved a lot of things I wanted to achieve this time 10 years ago. I wanted my own house, my own dog, I wanted to find a partner, get engaged. Find a good job. And I have acheieved all these things so far. However, I might write down a list of new things I would like to achieve and really go for it :)

Having goals makes life a lot more fun to live, more challenging and it makes you feel grateful for each day to be a day of accomplishments and opportunities.

I am 32 yrs old and when I turned 30 I made a list of 50 things I want to do in life and it actually turned out to be 176 lol... From skydiving to traveling to Australia I put everything I could possible think of on the list! And I have about 27 that I crossed off the last 2 years. Besides being fun it is something crazy and different to do and it feels awesome to work towards the goal, accomplish it and cross it off my list!!!

That's awesome Laura! I think I would redo some on my list and put things that won't take too long to achieve. You see most of my goals are long term and that's quite difficult.

At work, we had something similar. Instead of a list of 100 things we wanted to achieve in life, we were to make a vision board. It might be familiar to those who have read the book, The Secret. So on this vision board, we cut out stuff from magazines representing the things we want to achieve in life. For example, I want to have my own house, so I pasted a cut out of a house onto my vision board. I want to ensure my children's education and that they get good grades, so I pasted pictures of college graduates. The vision board is supposed to be placed in a easily visible place that you'll be able to see when you wake up, or while you're working. Basically, wherever you'll be to see a lot of it throughout the day. I hate to run down expectations, but so far, I haven't achieved one dream I placed on the board. Firstly, I believe that's because although my vision board was in some place visible, it was also in the middle of a lot of clutter. Secondly, I have learned to ignore the vision board, although everytime I see it, it reminds me of the things I need to do in order to achieve my dreams. And Thirdly,I eventually trashed my vision board, although I should have taken it home instead. I wanna try making another vision board. Maybe this time, it'll work! Wish me luck!

Wow, thanks for that idea! A vision board might be better, because the picture attracts you more than just letters and words on a list! I've gotta make one! My advice is you list down things that are easy to achieve first.. Maybe separate short term goals and long term goals. If you list goals that take too long to achieve you might become frustrated.

Hello friend ....people has so many wishes and goal in the short period of life.I cannot believe a list of 100 things because God give us for our right. So we can gust try to spend our life in normal and smooth way and not run behind the so many wishes........

What's wrong with wishing for so many things? I respect your beliefs, of course if you want to live in a smooth phase, it's your decision. That's not wrong either. however, I believe God would willingly grant our wishes if we do everything we can to achieve them. God will give opportunities and we grab them, we chase them. Achieving our dreams is all up to us, we don't have to sit still then wait for God to deliver blessings to our door. We gotta act and make ourselves worthy of those blessings.

You have a goal, it's only one, that works too!

I would like to try this too! I think the reason why those students was able to achieve their dreams was because they have written their dreams, was always being reminded of what they want to have/achieve and because it is listed they have a clearer view of what they really want in their life.

That's what I think too. Some people tend to get too comfortable in their current situation that they wouldn't bring themselves out of their comfort zones anymore and they can forget.

I`m in a period of my life when I only make grocery lists. But in spite of age and cancer I still keep thinking about what will I do "when I grow up". And instead of making lists when I was young, I had the fun of discovering what laid ahead in my path. The "help solve the world`s hunger" means playing a game at the computer each day for some minutes to donate rice by giving a bit of my time (freerice.com). There`s not much I can do but if we all did a little, maybe we could accomplish some.

Hi Aja Hi everyone Can I get back to you on that one? That was probably the wrong thing to say I think. I like the way you worded them help fight corruption, help solve.. which is always achievable in our life, in our lifetime. It is better than marry,Joe Bob McAlester. Even ‘get married’ is better? ‘Be involved with family life’ even better? Happy and whole well quickly check that one. I think this idea was great and thank you for sharing it. It has once again got me thinking. Have an office. I guess this could mean home office, parliamentary office, office of happy people, whatever. But I do think making a list is a good idea so must start working on this very soon. Why do I feel I am just a tad late on this?

It's great that this little discussion had an effect like that on you. We can't expect that we will achieve all of those. It's a great way to motivate ourselves and to remind us of thing we want. I'm the type of person who losses sight of my goals because things around me can easily distract me: like video games. I could have done better things with my time than play games all the time.

Hi Aja! Actually I read about writing what we want to achieve in our life several years ago so I've written down several of the things that I want to achieve. I forget about it already. Then one day as I am cleaning the house, an old notebook fell down and when I opened it, there written was the "Things I want to do before I die." As I read the note, I smiled to myself and showed it to my daughter. She said, "You still have a lot of things to do Mom!"

Hehe, your daughter is so smart! Maybe you should keep that list somewhere you can easily go back to and read. I hid mine under the mattress.
