Tomato is one of the most common used in the country. Most tomato are used for ketchups, spaghetti sauce and etc. But I was curious with this so called "Tomato" because someone told me that it is a vegetable while others say it it a fruit.

It is a fruit, but in India it is classified as vegetable. In fruit market in India will you find anyone selling Tomato. Here Tomato's are sold only in vegetable markets. I don't feel it will make much difference, whether one considers it to be a fruit or vegetable. :D

Tomatoes, squashes, courgettes, marrows, peppers, chilis, aubergines, egg plants and so on are all fruits. In the kitchen, they are classed as 'vegetables' only because they are generally used in savoury dishes.

Tomato is a fruit and has many ways its used in dishes. Personally, I like to eat them right after picking them. They are low in calories and really good for me.

Tomato is actually a fruit. Most people consider it as vegetable though. Whatever they categorize it though it does not really matter to me. Fruit or vegetable it may be, what is important is it is very rich in vitamin C and I love it green or red for as long as it is fresh.

Ah this question has plagued humanity for centuries and has lead to many horrific battles over weather a tomato could be rightfully classified as a fruit or a vegetable. Including the great tomato war of 1993. They had to actually remove that one from the history books, because the losses and the horrific violence was rather too late.
In the end, tomatoes are rather a rare food that can be technically classified as both. Then again, there are times where the fruit and vegetable food groups have been classified as a single fruit/vegetable food group, so really tomatoes would be the proper bridge. Of course, tomatoes could be considered something that could be classified as neither fruit nor vegetable, but there are many things that classify tomatoes as both.

Tomato is a fruit. I am all grown up before I knew that :D I really thought that it's vegetable because most of the time, you include them in your foods like the rest of the vegetables.

Tomato actually and scientifically is a fruit but is mistakenly called a vegetable because it is used in cooking various sauces, curries etc.
