Hi tri_0217. Do you mean for this generation consoles or older generation? If you mean this generation, it depends on what kind of RPG's you like. If you're into something like Fallout, I would choose either PS3 or Xbox360 depending which you like more. They have many great RPGs such as Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Oblivion, etc. The PS3 also has downloadable RPGs such as Final Fantasy 7 which a lot of people seem to like (I'm not sure if Xbox 360 does).
The Wii is alright but it's outdated and the Wii U is coming out soon so there is no real point in buying it now. However it does have some nice RPGs I've played like Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, and many downloadable virtual console games.
Overall, I would either wait for the new Wii U if you are a Nintendo fan, or buy an Xbox360 or PS3. Good luck with your purchase :)

Yeah, I like the Final Fantasy franchise as well. I'm also excited for the Wii U. Just hope it doesn't end up being outdated like the Wii was.

Have you guys tried the Baldur's Gate and the Ice Wind Dale? Those RPG are so damn great! Believe me. I got addicted to these games. So many quest and many characters to choose and to use.

Planescape Torement beats them 100 times! If you're going to play such old and classic games try PT first - it has much more original plot and an interesting climate. If you can't stand such an old graphic play Dragon Age: Origins (the sequel stinks), Mass Effect 2 and 3 (these are science-fiction, the first part is much worse and could discourage you) and Knights of the old Republic if you like Star Wars.

Now, to my gamer experience, the console to go for as far as a lot of RPGs is PS2 and PS3, those have "Tales of" series which are very good RPGs to go for. Sometimes Nintendo's consoles (GBA, DS, 3Ds Wii, Gamecube and probably Wii U as well) has pretty good RPGs too, some in the Mario series like Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, and Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. But that depends on what you like in a RPG.
