Facial Recognition Software

I read that Facebook was going to implement new software allowing it to recognize your face and suggest that you be tagged in the photos. I find this a bit creepy, Facebook seems to be lessening your privacy as time goes on. What do you think of this new software?

I don't really like it that much either. Although that is good news for those who are tired if tagging the pictures they upload, i also feel like we are in the fbi... suspects. ANd yes, there is less privacy.

I'm not sure how I feel about being tagged at all. Would be alright I suppose if I didn't look like shamoo in ever photo taken of me. You'd still have to accept the suggested tag I suppose do I can't see it saving THAT much time.

i don't agree with this software if you want to tag yourself in photos you will facebook is being too literal to it's name and should at least give people a choice about this

I agree! I once stumbled upon someone who wasn't in my friends list who had photos of me posted on facebook. Turns out we were at the same event and he was creepily taking snapshots of the group. I sent him a message and asked him to take them down, saying I didn't give him permission to take my picture nor did I give him permission to post it. (I looked terrible lol) If this facial recognition software happens then he and his friends list would know my full name. Not cool at all.

Try to watch it from the different sight. Maybe, fb want to protects us. With thi facial recogniser, when someone want to upload other photos. This shoftware will recognise it belong to other and it won't be uploaded. Cause we all know that fb was the number one site who for plagiarism and they want to stop or decrease it.

I don't like as I prefer uploading my own picture. As to the facial recongnition that should be user's choice not to mention spywares to invade our privacy!

I know! I don't want my name popping up when other people upload a picture of me! Now, I've only heard about it, it doesn't seem to be implemented as of yet and maybe never will be. But in general I find it a little bit scary.

Well, it's doesn't depend what's going on your friend computer! Why? I'm sure you hear of voice recognition software? That software is there to recognize your voice. We know that we need having a mike for such thing to work. Obviously, you probably already guess by having a web cam should be the requirement for face recogntion! Again, it's doesn't depend what's going on other user's computer!

Facial Recognition Software??!! That is so NOT COOL...!!! Has 'Facebook' forgotten the fundamental RIGHT TO PRIVACY??? This is totally ridiculous & outrageous!! Besides being creepy it downright infringes upon our right to privacy. 'Facebook' cannot do this, at all... I actually just read the latest news article on this particular technology. The article mentioned that 'Facebook' has already rolled out this technology in countries outside the US & that too without giving any information to the users about this. How can they do this??!! The article mentioned that there is a feature in 'Facebook' - "Suggest photos of me to friends" - activates the Facial Recognition Software. I would suggest that all of you My Lotters who live outside the US should immediately deactivate this feature & carry on with their 'Facebook' lives... I for one am gonna deactivate this immediately... Best of luck!!

i don't know vulgar, it may not ever even happen...perhaps this is public relations nightmare scare of some kind...and while i see your perspective and right to privacy, etc..this may not be altogether a bad thing...perhaps it will keep facebookers aware and honest, and save innocent facebookers or internet users in general from being victimized and taken in by unscrupulous people with evil motives....
