wow! i had forgotten jumanji altogether! when my son was small he loved this movie! which surprised me because i thought it would be scary to him. it was a little scary to me. i have never really been a fan of this movies, and to have a real game like this would be frightening to say the least!

My son liked it as well, psycho, even though I thought it might be frightening to him. In fact, he laughed through parts that I found quite disturbing.

I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid, even though it scared me silly. I remember a couple of friends of mine had a based-on-the-movie game-board, and I remember asking if the game really came to life. I think it was an older boy, and he said yes just to mess with me.
I also enjoyed the movie based on the sequel short-story (because Jumanji was based on a short story, and the author wrote a second story that was supposedly the game on the back of the Jumanji board) that was Zathura, set in space.

Dude, I was convinced that thing summoned actual demonic spirits. I wouldn't come within ten meters of one.

When I was little we were scared of the Oija board game. My brother used to make it move and say horrid things to us.

I love that movie! We have it here at home and I can't help but watch it when it is on tv. I've always been a Robin Williams fan too. If you haven't already, watch zathura. It's kind of the same themed movie about two brothers who find the game and start playing it and everything changes around them with the game. It's pretty good.

I looked on netflix and cannot find Zathura. Too bad because I have not seen that in ages and actually cannot really remember it. I will look on Amazon next. Thanks for the reminder.

JUMANJI.
Well, when the movie came out back in 1995, the concept of virtual reality is very novel at the time. Of course, you don't want to suddenly have to deal with a real ELEPHANT, TIGER, or BEAR in your living room, but you could probably throw something at people via virtual games.
There are different kinds of games. You can play some in Facebook, you can pretend to be a guy or a gal if you play Second Life (which I have never experienced). Games like this have already occured in virtual/online world. In the future, with the technology of 3D TV, you can imagine what you can imagine in JUMANJI.

You are so right. Today's technology is so much more advanced.

Jumanji..Yes, i have seen it a long time ago, but i still remember how it works..they play and when they roll the dice they get into another world right? that was a fun movie, i watched the animation too. it seems really exciting if that could happen in real life.

Hello TrvlArrngr
I have seen this movie, Jumangi. I didn't see it for a long time. I must admit I didn't see it because I heard that it wasn't very good. I can't remember where I heard that.
One day, it was on the television and I watched it and I was pleasantly surprised with it. I enjoyed it and thought that it had a neat concept.
It would, indeed, be frightening to play a game such as that. But also thrilling!

That movie is a blast from the past!! I thought it was fun and entertaining!! It would be freaky to be playing the game and everything would happen in real life lol. Now I need to watch the movie again!! It has been years since I saw it :)

I love anything that Robin Williams does and that was a delightful movie, but I think my favorite is Mrs. Doubtfire

I remember building myself a similar board game after I saw the movie. Then I pretended tigers are attacking me and stuff.
