As an Arsenal fan myself, the last 6-7 years have been really painful. The team promises something for a short period and then fails dramatically. Also the regular sale of top players has really depleted the club of real good talent. This season again it is going to be a struggle to retain Van Persie. If Wenger manages to do so, then probably next year we can have some hopes of the trophy drought breaking. I also support Barcelona, so they have been quenching my thirst during this period. :)
Cheers!

And this 6-7 years is the longest period, at least since I started supporting the club, that Arsenal has gone without a trophy. How they deem it as a success, honestly I can't fathom that. As for Van Persie, I have got the feeling that he will leave the club in the summer. I guess some of the critics are correct. Arsenal is now a feeder club.

Man City? Man U? How about Chelsea? Me? I like the way Liverpool played part of last season. But then again I am known to go for teams because of my heart , Not their record.

No I didn't mean their record but their style of play. I saw a match where they played as a team. They won . Like A ditz I can't remember whom they played. That is when I started to like them . Suraez was sitting out that match and they played better than when he was in!

really sarahruthbeth22,
Do you really love the way Liverpool played last season. That is the worst placing in the table in recent years finishing below Everton FC. I love your position of choosing teams out of your heart. I think Arsenal is dwindling and will more except change of policy is brought in.

I am also an Arsenal supporter and have been supporting them since the late 80s. This six barren seasons was the longest since I have supported them. This is even longer than those "boring boring Arsenal" days which saw Graham, Rioch and Houston playing the managerial musical chair. Something is fundamentally wrong with the club. Some blame the board, some Wenger, some luck/injuries and others both. Unless someone comes out and give a proper account of the backroom scene and make changes to it, I am afraid the trophyless trend will long continue. But as a fan, I will still continue to support the team.

When I started supporting the team, it was before Ian Wright signed for Arsenal and Tony Adams was just 21-year-old. I still remember some of the squad then. John Lukic, Lee Dixon, Tony Adams, David O'Leary, Nigel Winterburn, Brian Marwood, Steven Bould, Kevin Richardson, David Rocastle, Michael Thomas, Paul Merson, Alan Smith, Perry Grooves, Niall Quinn, Martin Hayes, Alan Miller. Ray Parlour did'nt make his debut till the early 90s.

Arsenal has been a force for the last 30 years and has been always in the hunt for honors. I can understand your frustrations. But you also remind me of the fans of the other teams like, Wolves, Birmingham or Sheffield United. What about them? Their teams are not even strong enough to stay in the top flight, let alone challenge for honors. They must have been more thirsty than people like you and me, who are lucky enough to support a big team like Arsenal or Manchester United.
When Chelsea and Manchester City bought star players by the dozens with the vast fortune of their owner, they were hated and criticized. Arsenal has been the model professional football club on sound financial management. They know how to do business. But football is, of course, not just about business. But in today's crazy player prices and salaries, the club has to be able to spend to buy and to pay the highest levels of salaries to capture the signatures of the best players. The ambitious clubs must have money-laden backers for them to compete in the transfer market as well as building the best facilities to get the most benefits from their investment of the players, eg. expand the seating capacity of their stadium.
In the process of being bought over by a wealthy owner, the club must be prepared to let go of some proud traditions. They may lose the name of their home stadium (Anfield becomes CoCa~Cola Anfield), even the crest and team colors may be changed (in the case of Cardiff City), are the fans ready for that? Not to forget that the price of the season tickets will also be raised to gather more revenues for the club.
The meaning of a true supporter or fan is to love your team like it is your family. Unless your club does something wrong then you can criticize as you want it to be righted. If a family member of yours is good working as a banker, you can't expect him to be as good in repairing an air plane. Know what he can do and support him to do the best in the field he is in. Arsenal is the best at its level. You can't expect the club to compete with the clubs with bottomless pockets. Wenger is not a fool. He is afraid of failure more than anybody else. If he has the funds and he doesn't want to use it, he is an idiot. But it doesn't mean that he could just go out and buy any Tom and John. The truth is, Wenger may not have too much room to move as far as money is concerned. I feel that he has done a respectable job for Arsenal over the years. At least, he got Champions League football for Arsenal consistently - Just imagine if you are a Liverpool supporter!
To support another team because you want a trophy is just a joke you make I am sure. It is easy to support a winning team. But that won't be what you wanted. You just don't feel the same. I will be proud to have supported a team thru thick and thin. Even if the team is just a divison 4 team.

Sure jkct02, Arsenal might a global name in football, but they are on a speedy decline and no effort to challenge others. If continue like this, they will end up like Liverpool who finished almost at mid-table. I think sticking to a team because of its antecedent who are not ready to change and win trophies is not worth it. If we say that Wenger got Champions league spot for Arsenal, i see as mediocrity. So Arsenal no longer desire to win the premier league but to stay in the first four. How long will this hold. They should watch their back as they narrowly escaped pushed down by Tottenham. I love your point though.

Arsenal prideful policy will continue to deprive of trophies Arsenal have gone 6 seasons no trophy and even Carling cup. Players who would lost in arsenal have already won it all in other clubs. Thierry Henry, Hleb, Toure, Nasir and Cecs all left and they all have no regrets as they have either won champions league, or local league except Cesc in Barcelona who won Copa del ray. I think unless Wenger change his policy of holding on to his cash and bring only younger who rise and he sells, Arsenal FC will continue to remain trophy-less. Though Arsenal has bought Podolski, I do not see the club competing that much if quality players are not bought also. Manchester City is now a permanent contender for Champions league spot. Liverpool is already in oblivion. Tottenham and Newcastle were almost a threat to the arsenal. Chelsea was also knocked out of the spot but Champions league victory.
Looking for trophy-bound club, look the direction of Barcelona or Real Madrid as these clubs cannot go a season without trophy. You will always get your appetite filled.

You're not a true Arsenal fan then if you look for another team just because they never win trophies. Don't quit supporting Arsenal, you never know maybe they will win lots of trophies in the near future. They even signed good players this season, Podolski and Giroud.
I think Podolski is a good replacement for V. Persie, if he leaves (though I don't want him to leave, of course!) and Giroud is a good player.
And they never didn't qualify for champions league and they never finished out of the top 4. I mean, they were 3rd last season! So, maybe, i'm hoping, they win this season.
And Wenger is the best manager! He stayed with Arsenal for super long even though they never won any trophies and even though many of his star players left... All Arsenal fans should be like Wenger.
Support Arsenal no matter what happens!!

HELLO,
Arsenal is a good team. It has got some very good players like Van persie. I seriously think that he has some serious potential in him. But unlucky for him, his team is not being able to perform to their level in recent times. If you want to change your favorite club and support some other club, I would seriously want you to support BARCELONA. In my opinion BARCELONA football club is the best football club in the world at least for the past three or four years. It has got some huge players to support and specially their attack led by WORLD FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR "LIONEL MESSI". What MESSI can do on the ground, I think no one else is capable of doing it. He is simply genius. He is a goal scoring machine. So if u want to be on a winning side, i insist you to support BARCELONA.

Try supporting Manchester United or Real Madrid. Many would suggest Barca but i think it better if you dont support it. Barca is going to have a new coach and i dont think the team will be playing like they use to do under him. Real Madrid has an amazing coach in Jose Mourinho and amazing team that have jelled well as a unit. If you want to support a team in England go for manchester United. They are the best in england. They have an amazing coach and the best part about this team is their 'Never Say Die' attitude. They never give up.

They are clever in buying a particular player and made them proud
even they missed from win the trophy. However they still hold the title
of " one of the best team in the world".
They being the top 10richest club even they just didn't win any cup.
Fifth of richest club in the world. Amazing right. They smart in buying
young players, skills them and sell to high price as Cesc Fabres, Theirry Henry,
Nasri, Flamini, Hleb, some other stars.
