Either its this computer or our internet either way Im ticked. I wrote out my discussion for this week for my college course. I clicked submit and the Internet cut out. I lost it all about 20 minutes of writing it up and I did it right on the portal. Im annoyed that I have to start all over again now.

Oh, I remember how this happened to me when I started by online college and how agitated it really made me to just lose all of my thoughts right in one fell swoop. I mean, I wrote something, I thought it was a good few paragraphs, with insight and rather something happened. I think the school website went down or my Internet rather slipped out at the worst possible time. This is why I don't write anything out on the actual Internet very seldom or at least I had not done from school this. I like to keep my work backed up and save it. Sure I really could go back in and write it later, but the magic as it was, is kind of lost and thus I would just have to start over from scratch. And really it would not come out nearly as well I would think.

Thats exacty what happened to me and its irritating when it happens. Im going to try and type it in Microsoft Word from now on as you can always recover it. But normally my train of thought disappears because Im so agitated and annoyed.

hi 911rici- that happened to me too on several occations and yes it did annoy me to no end but all i did was refresh the page and sometimes my post would be saved..other times it just bought me back to a blank page and i have been writing a long time. i think it might be my internet...its not real popular lol! but its the only one available in my town which sucks because i have come close to closing my account! i feel ur frusteration but hang in there...it's not worth that wrinkle =D

I think it may be your connection. I lost stuff when I posted from a McDonald's connection one week. Always copy and paste important stuff. It may be annoying but it will save you some time in the long run.

That is very annoying! It could have been either / or. I hated when I'd do something and it'd just cut out or disappear, freeze, etc. If I were you I'd copy and paste to word pad and save every so often. That way you can save your progress.

I agree with you. I had experienced that also. It's really very annoying. Hope you won't experience it again.

I feel your pain. That happened to me once and since then I have been writing up my posts for class in Microsoft Word and saving them. Then I just copy and paste it into the discussion forum. The extra step is annoying but at least I haven't lost more posts.

That is the biggest downfall to having an online class. I remember I was taking a test and there was no time limit but you could only enter into it once and my power went out due to a storm and I was SO paranoid that I wouldn't be able to get back in. Luckily, the professor knew to take off the cap because she knew we were getting slammed with a hurricane. I think the most frustrating part is when you have no control over it, especially with power going out or your internet cutting out. Internet isn't reliable enough so I would definitely recommend typing everything in a word document so that you know it's there even if your internet should go out. Discussions are simple to write out in a word and then to just copy and paste your response on the discussion board. I hope you were able to crank out your response again pretty quickly and you didn't have to figure out the answer all over again or anything to that extreme.

What a disaster for you, 911Ricki! This sort of thing really stinks. I can't stand when that sort of thing happens. I had it happen to me on myLot several times today. When I'm doing stuff like you're doing, and if it is allowed, I write out my work on a word processor then paste it into the portal. This way, if it's lost, I have it saved on my word processor. Best of luck!
