It is really sad despite all the support. But it will be somewhat embarassing for Jessica if she will not sing our national anthem properly. A lot of critics and hstorians will just comment on her and probably sue her for singing it improperly.

Why would she get embarrassed about? she was born in America and never have been in the Philippines. I hate this kind of scenario whereas narrow minded people will think she can't sing the national anthem simply because she can't speak Tagalog. they can't sue her since pacman chose a boy to sing his song

Another thing is that perhaps she cannot do anything about it since she is still under the contract of American Idol. If the AI told her to sing in the match she will do it. From the past fight of Pacman, there are about two or three singers that has been sued by the NHI for they did not properly sang the national anthem. They are so sensitive about the issue.

I don't think there any reason to be sad about. For me, that's the most appropriate thing to do because Jessica is American. I don't think it would do her career any good if she starts to sing the Philippine anthem this early. Let's not forget that she almost won AI and I don't think it would sit well to a lot of americans who voted for her as the their idol for her to sing another country's national anthem especially in such as high profile fight.

If she sung lupang hinirang without a lot of practice then I think she would most likely murder the song

I find nothing really wrong with that. She is an American after all so I find it but natural. She emerged 2nd placer in the recent American Idol so what could be so surprising if she is chosen to perform the country's national anthem in Pacquiao-Bradley fight? In fact she has actually sang that anthem in one grad occasion even before her entrance to American Idol so it is no longer something really new to her. We Filipinos admire and support Jessica for she has really proved herself worthy. Not because she is singing America's national anthem it means we have to be offended. She is not taking sides here. She is just doing her job as a singer. In fact Jessica herself said that if invited, she is also willing to sing Philippine national anthem.

I don't think she should sing the Philippine national anthem, she'll embarass herself with the critiques here. learning Filipino language takes months and i don't know if she'll like the tone. good luck to her if that is what she wants.
