I noticed one newbie on mylot who just joined less than 2 days ago was responding on few of my old discussion by just copying exactly what others has wrote.
Within less than 48 hours joining mylot, he has already make 63 rating. he manage to make that much of activities within short period because he dont really have to think so much when he is CHEATING by copying others responses.
Some people are here to have fun and some are trying to cheat the system because they think they could make good money from mylot.. owhh come on... Its totally waste of time anyway once they got them self banned with all the earning.

I trust that you reported the post concerned?
Sadly almost daily their are plagiarists here who seem to think that using the work of others is going to earn them their daily bread. How sad
What they seem to be unaware of is that their earnings for those plagiarised posts, once deleted, will not go to them but to us. MyLot shares the earnings form deleted posts among active Lotters so I suppose that we could be gratefult ot them too
The career of the user who posted on your topic will come to an end once admin arrives. I checked their other posts and they are all of the same 'quality'

I just curious about the line you mentioned: "they seem to be unaware of is that their earnings for those plagiarised posts, once deleted, will not go to them but to us" what do you mean?
Correct me if I'm wrong that all deleted responses with earning will be distributed to those people concerned to that dicussion deleted... hmmmm it sound wrong..

This has been explained many times.
I quote the FAQs:
"During the recalculation of earnings some users with lower-quality contributions will see a decrease. Any money deducted from users due to our abuse and moderation processes is then reallocated to myLot users based on certain qualitative factors. Due to this, earnings will fluctuate."

As long as there is the potential to earn money, there will always be cheaters trying to earn some quick cash. I have been on myLot for quite a while now (close to 4 years I think) and I have seen quite a few plagiarists lurking about, especially among the older discussions. The modus operandi can differ among different people; for example, some can copy what others wrote (like what you have mentioned), some can just post some random piece of text and copy it to multiple different discussions although obviously the response doesn't make any sense, and some can just take stuff off the internet and just post it like it's their original idea. But whatever it is, these people will get caught eventually, no matter how hard they try to mask their activity. There is a saying in my native country that goes "As smart as a squirrel jumps from tree to tree, eventually it will fall/return to the ground". These cheaters will be caught and banned, as long as the honest ones report them!

You have really hit the nail on the head. Honest members of the community need to report the dishonest actions that they see. It is up to all of us.

I looked through your discussion and I see that you have been told already that this is something to report. I think others have already reported it as well. Honest people last here a long time. Cheaters lose out.

I can suppose that he may have learned his lesson. Sometimes they just get warned and not banned. I can only suppose he is doing the copy of others because he thinks he cannot express himself in English very well. Here on MyLot that is okay. We accept that many people have valuable ideas even if their English is suffering.

they will not get banned, only their account got deleted, so if they want to join again, i suppose they have to create new acc with different email address.
true, for people who cant write good english are still allowed, infact here is good place to learn english. but dont copy others comments just to make it easy so they dont have to put effort to think at all..

This is why it is important to read everything here. I have seen my own responses, and those of others, copied and re-posted by these cheating individuals on more than one occasion

There seems a lot to understand about myLot but there is only one thing that ties everything up: it is a community and, just like every community offline too, if it is going to work it needs teamwork with everyone rowing in the same direction. Those who come here to upset the apple cart and think only of themselves must be ousted immediately.

I don't understand the purpose of plagiarizing on here anyway....wouldn't the time somebody spent looking for an appropriate post to plagiarize have been double what it would take to write something original? it just seems pointless.... especially for me, when I have a really high typing speed and tons of things to say (LOL)

I wonder if they go into the source code and insert what they'd like? Or, I guess, as you said, maybe that just type super fast.
But MyLot doesn't make you enough money to make it worth cheating, as far as I can tell. people are weird! In my short time here already, I can tell that the people on MyLot are much more intelligent and interesting than on other forums I've been through. I mean, to start, there's tooons of categories...
There are people that start discussions but never interact?

Well, some people are very narrow-minded :( Mylot is a slow-earner, but it seems like it can definitely be worth it if you get good ratings, and possibly good referrals as well. I love the discussions on this website, because there are so many different kinds, and they're all sorted so well! And there are tons of different types of people from all sorts of walks of life, and it's just. Really different from other discussion boards I've visited.
Maybe they get really busy? I know that it's possible I won't be able to respond to every post every day, but we'll see. I can't see myself starting a conversation and not trying to keep up with it though. :)

Sadly this isn't the first time that this has happened. It's happened a few times before. People think that they can cheat the system and get by with it by copying and pasting, or even just repeating themselves on a post. It's sad that they even attempt. I am here to earn but also to have fun, and I know the best way to do that is QUALITY.

i think newbies always failed to understand what does it mean by QUALITY post in mylot. because mylot are not like other free forums. That why it is nice to discuss here, most people in mylot will always try to response with quality comments.
So lets keep it that way!

I have seen this before too. It is stupid and annoying. One person responded to a discussion right under mine and the last line of my response they copied and pasted. It got removed quickly because multiple people flagged it. I was glad it was handled so fast.
They are just cheating themselves in the long run...

I think that is terrible and really a very rude way of treating people. If it was me, if after members explained to that person that what they were doing was wrong and they refused to listen to reason, I would let the rude person get to $9.99 then ban them from the site with a message that said "cheaters never win". I would make for a very horrible admin.

There is in my opinion one thing wrong with letting them reach that amount (though I do see the irony). while they are posting others might be commenting to them. When the offending posts are removed the comments, and therefore relative earnings, would be lost too.
There is only one thing for these offenders - the chop immediately!

I've reported a couple of posts because of plagiarism in my relatively short period of time being here. One of them was not even done by a newbie; the user was here longer than I was and responded to one of my old discussion also with the same exact response given by other responder. I'm still baffled as to what the motive was for doing that. Was the user just desperate to make the pay out since it was done toward the end of the month? Did the user really think he can get away with that hoping that no one will know? You're right, it's such a waste of time. And a stupid thing to do...

No, they were gone not too long after I've reported them. It's clearly a copy/paste plagiarism job down to the typos and everything...
You know, a couple of my old discussions were 'attacked' by a newbie plagiarist yesterday. I've reported them and his posts along with his account here are gone. He went through old discussions and responded to more than 100 of them by copying responses of others. He must be a fast typist, because he wouldn't have the ability to copy/paste yet...

Yeah, not really...
But I'm just happy that it seems majority of those who are active here still care enough to keep the site free from those trolls. Those who abuse the site here are dealt with swiftly, and although there may be one or two showing up every now and then, they will not last long here. On the other hand, I've seen many valuable users, such as yourself, are active here for many years

Hmm. I should not be surprised at your disclosure of this act of plagiarism being attempted here, but I am!
Despite these attempts, I have faith in the proper workings of the system (and its administrators) and vigilance of the decent members; so that -through joint action- the the work of culprits are eventually exposed, and appropriate actions/punishment will be meted out.
Cairalyssa, thanks for the reminders that no operation can be 'declared safe' unless it is effectively monitored, and the violators/culprits are sanctioned.

Good from you cairalyssa,
Am too a newbie in mylot. Just less than a week old in mylot but I cannot imagine such a weird act of coping people post and paste. I think there is honour and integrity with genuineness on your creativity. I think we should respect people and copy their post. As you reported his act, lets wait and see response from the administrator. Folks should learn, I cannot do that. If I see a discussion and cannot contribute, I better leave it and go one to another rather than piracy. This my fellow newbie should learn

Im here more than a year already and my rating is only 400++ that newbies already have 126 ratings within 3 days with his dirty way. Well all that i care about, im using mylot for its benefits nobody can become rich if they are cheating here anyway..

Hi Cairalyssa,
I know who that person is, I think. Another Mylotter had messaged me to inform me that he copied one of my responses. I reported him. There has been a lot of plagerism here lately and I really don't understand why they bother. They always get caught so it is just a huge waste of their time. They could put that same time and effort into having fun on here and make some friends and actually even earn something.

I have noticed several pragiarists on Mylot. Some of them copy something from another website and post it as a discussion or a response and some of them copy the discussions or responses from other members. I reported a response on one of my own discussions. I recognized the response because I had read it on Yahoo answers a couple of weeks before. That member simply copied every single word of the answer on Yahoo answers I haven't noticed members who copied one the other member's responses on my discussion like you experienced, but if it happens I will report it. If we agree with the things that have already been said, we might mention some of same things, but it is wrong to copy to the response word for word.

I've seen users respond to discussions with something confusing and sort of off-topic, and then several months later the same same user posted the exact same response again. It was the weirdest thing!
As for plagiarism, it really annoys me because it takes away from the discussion. Plus the users doing it are only doing themselves a disservice because they're going to get banned and lose all their earnings. I'm glad mylot is strictly moderated because it keeps the spammers, scammers, and trolls to a minimum.

Dah...I don't believe it.Plagiarism even on mylot. This mess would follow us everywhere from blogs to articles to even here. These scammers should be thrown out from mylot.I once had my mylot discussion being made into a blog article by some stupid member here.I hate when people copy others stuff for their benefit and earn here.Try reporting it to the mylot staff here. They could help us.
