There's always that ONE!

There are so many times when engaged in a conversation with friends that someone makes a comment that is just...so surprisingly STUPID! Like a bunch of us were talking about my current financial situation. Although we all agreed it wasn't permanent this one joker actually asked if I liked it this way! After looking at him like he had lobsters crawling out of his ears, I replied NO---that's why I'm selling most of what I still own at yard sales & selling my crafts and paintings. Why would anyone like poverty? Wasn't that ignorant of him to say? Some of my friends told I shouldn't have even bothered to answer him---what do you think?

I am not really familiar with your current situation, but I am familiar with people who open their mouth and say anything just to hear themself speak. I might have gone all sarcastic on your joker friend and said "Oh yes, I just love it. The only thing better would be to be completely destitute and homeless." I can say he certainly showed himself to be rude and insensitive by asking that question.

There are stupid people who just say crazy things. I would have looked at him like that too if it was me. Not too many people like being poor. There are some but definitely not most. I hate being poor, well I am way below poverty level and it is terrible! I hate having to sell all of my stuff just to survive, that is where I am at too. It makes me so sad. =( Oh well, that is life I suppose... But this is NOT permanent for me either, I will not let it be. =)

It seems good people sometimes have to put up with bad situations and then there are really ignorant types that seem to make dumb comments like that! this is NOT a permanent situation for either of us so hang in there, sweetheart and if I can help---there isn't much I can do right now---but you know I'd try meanwhile, my prayers go out for you

It always seems to amaze me the type of people that would respond with something like this, but yet they are the ones happy with their minimum wage 9-5 job or even part time, and getting by and never understanding why someone would need to do something different. I Love the thoughts that you are always having Yard Sales selling your Crafts and paintings. Besides working for someone full time, I have my Online business plus I do shows, and yard sales, etc. Just always trying to make some Extra money where I can.

You always get one who either says something in appropriate or facile. I don't know why they do it. Maybe they think they're contributing positively to the conversation, but they definitely aren't!

Haha, lobsters crawling out of his ears!! Well, I think the WAY he said it was really stupid. And if he's your friend, he should know what would tick you off. But on a side note, I've read of people who voluntarily became homeless because they didn't want to be bound to material things.

sorry, hope I didn't offend you with that comment but he just really irritated me he's not really a friend more like an acquaintance but that's close enough! I can't even fathom someone being poor on purpose YUCK!

don't always jump to the conclusions, maybe he has a reason why he ask it or unless he really is a stupid person. For me, it's better that you've answered his question to make him realize that you're not in a funny situation even if he only intends to make a joke or something in the conversation.

Maybe he is trying to be funny in a stupid way. You know sometimes in a conversation when everyone seems to be so serious about discussion, there's one and you are right who break it for so many reasons like just lessening the tension and so forth. Anyway, I understand you because no one ever want poverty and why the heck he asked it still.

You're right, there always seems to be ONE person who is just stupid, insensitive or whatever. Unfortunately, some people don't think before they open their mouths and it sounds like this guy is one of them.
